Splash Weird — Local services in Lakeway

Working in the same industry (boat captain on Lake Travis), I can say on good authority that Mike and his company are first class in terms of professionalism, integrity and quality of rental offerings.

I rented two jet skis over the past weekend on Lake Austin. I had tried reaching out to a few other rental companies prior-- I was simply going down the list on Google Maps until Splash Weird came up. Mike was the first person to A) pick up on the first dial and 2) have skis available for rent same day. NOTE: I am NOT condoning/recommending/suggesting to book for same day as the likelihood of availability is slim and can cause some time delays. Also worth noting: if you are new to Austin, have yet to be on any of the area lakes or green when it comes to operating/riding jet skis, I strongly suggest checking out Lake Travis first-- you'll have plenty more room to play around and there will be far traffic/obstacles and skiers/wakeboarders/wake surfers to avoid as compared to Lake Austin.

The two jet skis my friend and I rented worked flawlessly, ran like they were brand new and though I know how much wear and tear rental watercrafts see, they were in immaculate condition. I rented the only 2 which were available that day: a Sea-Doo GTI and a Yamaha WaveRunner EX. **BTW, don't judge a book by the cover- the Yamaha kept up effortlessly with sleeker looking Sea-Doo, even with my friend piloting the Yamaha who has about 50lbs on me.

Closing hour on the holiday Monday we booked was 3 PM, however I wanted to book for 3 hours and couldn't make it to the pick-up/drop-off point at the 360 boat ramp until 12:30 PM. Mike was accommodating and tailored the hours for me to rent from 12:30-3:30 PM. Nearing the end of our booking, I called Mike about 5 minutes before approaching the ramp and he had the trailer backed in the water, ready for us to load up by the time we made it back.

One last note: be sure to fill out the online waivers for each person operating the watercraft prior to arriving to the boat launch/marina. Doing so will allow you more time on the water.

All-in-all 10/10 experience and I will most definitely be renting with Splash Weird again. Thank you very much for an epic...

Update to owners response: The owner was late due to high traffic so we were rushed to be put in water from land and there was a quick tutorial and told us if it flips to flip it right over. Our first instinct was to flip it back when it kept flipping effortlessly was to try to get it back to Owners ASAP since we were having trouble staying up. We kept trying to get back on top but it kept flipping so our only other option was to stay swimming in the lake. I’ve rented jetskis before and never had this type of issue when we flipped. My first initial thoughts about the constant flipping was because of the waves until the owner told me it’s because water got inside.

Owner rented us a jetski that we used and in less than 30 minutes the jetski kept flipping and we just couldn’t get back on so we had called the owner and he told us that water could have made it into the engine. We kept trying to get the jetski up and running but it then won’t start anymore so not only did we just had a terrible time we also didn’t get our $250 deposit back via Cashapp because apparently when we left with the jetski it was fine. Who would know if the jetski needed maintenance at first glance or 5 minutes into it? Long story short. Just don’t go too far because you may get...

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR JET SKI FUN, THIS IS IT!!

I want to start by saying I don’t leave reviews nearly as much as I read them, but the excellent service and communication Splash Weird provided throughout our ENTIRE experience was above and beyond anything that I have ever received.

My good buddy flew in from Chicago the night prior, and I intended on showing him a good time. What better way to show him Austin than to get him on Lake Travis. What better way to get on Lake Travis than to be on Jet Skis!

After calling 3 or 4 different jet ski businesses who decided simply not pick up the phone, we found Splash Weird on google. We called and they instantly picked up. They walked us through the process and the different options, including what lake you wanted to meet them at! What separates SW from the others, is that they will bring the skis directly to you! No trailer needed. They literally will back you into the water while you are on them! They provided a quick tutorial, tips for while on the water, and even snacks when we were done.
