I made the following complaints in the USPS survey offered on their receipt about my experience today. 1. First your self-service automated machine was broken when I went there to purchase postcard stamps over the previous weekend. So I had to go back when the post office was open for customers in case it remained broken. My experience is the self-service machine is often broken when post office is closed for customers. 2. The sign on the self-service machine said I could buy ā€œpreprinted forever postcard stampsā€. So I ordered 100 stamps. Instead of preprinted normal stamps, the machine started printing individual huge ugly $.44 stamps that don’t even say they are forever stamps. 2. Not only were they ugly, they were so big, they covered part of the writing I’d already written on my postcards. I didn’t want them but the machine kept printing them. It took the machine 4-5 seconds to print each stamp so I waited over 8 minutes for them to print. The stamps stuck together & wouldn’t even form a pile. I bent over ever two stamps to keep them in a stack. Several people wanting to use the self service machine in line behind me left - probably to the in-person service line. 3. I did not want the ugly stamps so I immediately waited in line to exchange the ugly self-printed stamps for normal preprinted stamps. The clerk would not exchange them, pointing out USPS receipts - that I did not see until after I’ve purchased the stamps - are not even refundable. That’s my biggest complaint. I tried to return something I bought immediately after seeing what it was I was buying. Walmart or the worst retail store I can think of allows returns - that’s why I had the machine print the receipt. But apparently not USPS. That’s why I’m taking the time to complain. USPS has got to do better than this. I have a photo showing the self-service machine’s statement it sold preprinted postage stamps misled me. I ask you call me at (gave my phone number) & provide me with actual reasonable customer service. Please exchange these giant ugly self-printed stamps for regular preprinted postage stamps like the ones I bought from the clerk.

This was my first time in the Lakewood post office off of Alameda. I needed to drop off a prepaid return package and this location was close to our home. There was plenty of parking, even a spot in the shade. There were two entrances and I chose the right one, the door closest to Alameda. (The far door takes you to the mailboxes, not the service counter.) There were only three people ahead of me in line but it took a while because there were only two people at the counter, but I'm used to that coming from a small town. The lady in front of me ended up leaving because she didn't want to keep waiting. My one complaint was the gruffness and hard-to-understand accent of the clerk who ended up helping me (it sounded like heavy eaten-Eurooean). I watched the man in front of me ask that clerk three times to repeat a simple phrase that was indecipherable the first two times but we both finally got it on his third try ("It's being delivered today"). The clerk seemed very annoyed to have to repeat himself. When it was my turn, I set my package on the counter and he scanned it. I waited for him to hand me a receipt and he only stared at me. I asked him if I could get a receipt and he mumbled something unintelligible then repeated what I determined to be "How you want it?" while pointing at the screen in front of me with print or email options listed. Other than that, the lobby was clean and bright, the area to stand in line was clearly designated, and there was plenty of counter space if I had needed to use it for my packages. They even had pens to use to fill out labels, and there were a lot of postal accessories to purchase.

PASSPORT RELATED - Employee by the name of Matthew. No one should EVER obtain their passport from this location! Inhumane experience!!!! This morning my family (20 month old toddler, husband, and I) had a cringing experience at our, what was supposed to be an exciting moment, passport appointment. Matthew’s customer service was non existent. Cruel, condescending, and rude to ALL of us. I don’t write reviews nor do I wine or complain, but this experience was a horrible start to the day. We had numerous questions which were met each time with a condescending tone. Zero direction on next steps or all the fees associated with a minor passport. The worst part was hopping on the reviews to see that this behavior and poor treatment to all customers has been allowed to occur for a while now. When I asked for Matthew’s last name I was met with ā€œI’m not obligated to provide thatā€. When I asked who he reports to, Matthew replied ā€œmy supervisorsā€ in yet another condescending snicker. I submitted feedback on the UPS website directly, unsure of how far that will go. But no one, NO ONE, should ever be treated that way. Matthew-please find a job unrelated to customer service to avoid treating people poorly. It’s unacceptable! I plead that others will also go to UPS website to share their experience! I have a small business and drop packages off here every month or so, and every single time the experience is awful. The wait times aren’t ideal, but I never hold that to them. It’s the terrible customer service experience I have receive every single time for the last year. I always try to give grace knowing someone might be having a rough day, but the awful costumer service is consistent.

I have only ever worked with two of the same to staff members. One is a male who usually makes the process easy, but ALWAYS throws my packages that have 5+ fragile stickers on them and I have to ask him every single time to not.

The woman there though is absolutely awful. It’s clear she hates her job and makes it everyone else’s problem. Every time I go, she yells at me wanting me to put my packages in a drop box. I often have several packages and like to get a receipt showing I handed them to a person to cover my business and have record that I did things correctly.

Today, I approached the counter with eight packages, all prelabeled, packaged correctly, and all they needed was a weigh and scan. She rolled her eyes and huffed as I walked up to the counter, did not say a word to me through the entire process, and wouldn’t weigh my items. The scale was on HER side and she told me I had to place them on, causing the entire process to be longer than necessary (usually the other staff member will weigh and scan as I grab packages to make it a streamlined process.) She then berated me because I created my labels last night (outside of usps hours) and did not drop them off until this morning. I have dropped off probably 100+ packages in the last year and have NEVER had an issue with that. If I dropped it off days/weeks later I would get it, but it was less than 24 hours. Every time I go in she finds a way to knit-pick at me to make me feel small and uneducated when I know I have done everything right.

Whoever is managing the branch needs to have a serious discussion with this team about their attitude. I’ve gone a year trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but it’s obvious the people here want to make the process as difficult as possible for everyone. I rarely take the time to make a negative review but if there is one place that deserves it, it is...

Normally i’d choose to never come to a usps, however, I’ve had two go twice in the past week because they did not deliver two of my packages. If you are thinking about rescheduling a delivery through this location forget it. You will have to go in. My first experience is waiting for about 15 minutes to be helped by and older black lady that, for the past 2 customers, has been yelling at them. I tell her i had rescheduled my delivery for an in store pick up. She instantly goes on to tell me how she won’t take a tracking number or a barcode. I’m ask what she needs and she continues, ā€œWhen did you schedule your pickupā€ I had scheduled it the day before and she starts to go on and on about how they don’t have the package because there wasn’t enough time so the carrier (USPS) still has it. I’m trying to get a word in so i can ask questions such as aren’t you USPS? or why was i able to schedule a pickup if you don’t have it? She keeps telling my i’m not listening while never taking a breath to listen. Finally we step in and ask if she can tell us where the package is or if she can verify it’s not here. She asks for the address (which she proceeds to write down wrong, then says it doesn’t matter is something is wrong she’s got it) and goes in the back. She walks out with the package that she swore they would not have mumbling ā€œi can’t believe this, I'm old enough to be your mother, i shouldn’t have to deal with thisā€¦ā€ We leave and i get another package not delivered message so here we go again right? Today i got in and she isn’t working thankfully, however i figured she doesn’t know any better because this is how everyone that works here is and she is surrounded by negativity all day. This couldn’t be further from the truth, Everyone working today was efficient, helpful and nice. When i got up front, instantly asked how i could be helped, told them i had a pickup, they went and looked in the back and was out in 5 minutes! This women seems to try to have the worst experience with every customer she can. She clearly thinks she is entitled and can’t see how disrespectful and rude she is. If she calls you up, let the person behind you go and wait for...
