Small's Food Center — Local services in Lancaster

Been purchasing groceries from this independently owned grocery store for 41 years. It used to be a really great place to shop. I knew everyone that worked there and they knew me. The prices were competitive and the products were great. Then someone else bought the store. Most all of the people I knew are gone, the prices are much higher, the quality less than before, but we still buy groceries and gas there to support them. My husband and I both once ran small businesses. Today I went out of my way to purchase gas there passing 3 gas stations along the way. I went in to pay and tried to hand the cashier my money, but she ignored me. After she finished checking out another customer’s groceries, I tried again to hand her my money for the gas. Again, she ignored me and turned her back to me. She called out to another person with a cart full of groceries to come on up and made me wait for her to check out all his groceries. She snapped at me and rudely told me her customers come first and motioned for me to get in the back of the line. Was I not a customer? Just filled my car up with gas there. I went to the other register where no one was in line and the cashier was laughing and talking to another employee. She wouldn’t take my money either. I just wanted to hand them the money for gas and go! It doesn’t take much effort to be kind to others and to be polite. When I’m in line at a register with a cart full of groceries and I see someone holding one or two items, I usually tell them to go on before me. It’s just the right...

I received the add in the Lancaster paper this week. We normally do not receive an add, so I saw a few items that were on sale with a digital coupon and went to the website and signed up. I put in the correct store, #2 for Heath Springs. I clipped the coupons and went to the store. Picked up my sale items and a bunch more. My bill was over $200. I asked if they could fix my bill as I had just signed up and was refused. NO. I asked for a manager. She said she was. Again, NO. So I told them they had horrible customer service and they could keep all of the groceries. I was embarrassed and I will never step foot in that grocery store again as...

As I was leaving today, the lady in line behind me told the young girl at the register, that all of the icecream was outdated. I will be checking dates on my own purchases. If I find any, I will return tomorrow for full refund. This is the 3 rd report of outdated merchandise in the last two weeks that I am aware of.
