I've been commuting to Charlotte from Winston-Salem all week (something I do for work a few times each year) and noticed a billboard for this place on I-85 South. It got my attention because I often like to stop at other game and hobby stores along the way since the selection in Winston-Salem is often lacking.
The billboard is unfortunately a little too close to the exit to be effective. By the time I had fully comprehended the information, I'd missed the exit. The directions on the billboard were a little confusing anyway. But I looked it up later online and figured it out.
When I saw on their website that they had some D&D stuff I knew I needed to check it out on my next drive down. To my surprise they had one of the 2019 limited edition covers of the Tyranny of Dragons adventure. I haven't seen one of these at a store since 2019 and I thought the only way I was ever going to get one was to pay a collectors markup on Ebay or something. But there it was in a surprisingly well-stocked hobby store in a small town in North Carolina that I would never have discovered on my own!
I snatched it off the shelf and had a nice chat with the guy at the counter about how excited I was about the find. He's clearly not a D&D player because he didn't really know what he had. But he was excited that I was excited. I paid a few dollars less than MSRP and walked away with an...
Read moreI had been looking for a particular train for over a months. It was out of production and no one had it in stock In my search I finally discovered 2 train shops that claimed to have it, but they didn't take PayPal. That set off alarm bells and after looking at reviews I could see that it was no accident, they both took your number and left you waiting, refusing to give you a refund. Then I found Chuck's. Not only did they have the train, but the price was fantastic and the shipping price was amazing. -AND they took PayPal.
I placed the order. I called them later that day to ensure they received the order (yeah, sure - I was excited that I'd found my train for that price and wanted to see how long I'd have to wait for it). The person who answered was not only incredibly friendly, but he'd already shipped it out! I was floored. I got the train, well packed, in a gold bag a couple of days later and it's beautiful.
I will absolutely go to them as my first stop when looking for anything for my layout.

To Chuck's: Thanks again guys, I've been going through some stuff and you brought me a lot of happiness. Just so you know - this really meant a...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW: "Does not follow the posted store hours. It is hit or miss on whether they are open or not."
Apparently due to the observation I made in my initial review, the owner has "banned me from the premesis". While it is understandable that the store closes due to train shows (which the owner claims a sign was posted, but on each of the 3 occasions I stopped by regular hours, no sign was visible), it is not understandable how a potential paying customer can be banned from a store because of a simple review. It is also not appreciated when the owner CUSSES at customers inside of the store. While I know and have been told that I am not welcomed, I am not interested in ever returning to this place if made possible nor do I wish for this stores' success. I HIGHLY discourage anyone from visiting this location, especially those with little ones due to the horrible attitude of the owner. And don't write a review about this location, you'll be banned because of your...
