Langston University — Local services in Langston

I have read multiple negative reviews on here and I can say the majority are lies or from people who did not attend school here. Langston is one of the best universities you can attend to get an education. This is an affordable university that allows a student the opportunity to get a degree or two in many different fields. I attended LU from 1999-2003 and I had one of the best experiences of my life. I came from a primarily African American high school in Oklahoma City and I left to attend LU. At my high school there was a feeling of family and camaraderie. LU had the same feeling. from my first day on the yard to my last day at graduation I always felt like I belonged. There is nothing like seeing your own people around you all time all moving towards one common cause....EDUCATION. There is nothing better than going to a university where the president (Ernest L Holloway) stops you outside and ask your name where you are from and just talks to you about school. I can remember this campus before a lot of renovations were made. The first week of school was nothing but parties and people hanging outside getting to know each other. I remember people playing games and having game nights. I remember students supporting each other and helping out their fellow students when they had no food at night. Once I had a flat tire and a guy who really didn't know me stopped to help me change my tire. Go to a PWI and see how you are treated. Why be a number when you can be a name. Why take all of your athletic ability to universities that don't value your culture, who you are as an individual and don't even have your best interest at heart if you don't perform on the court or the field. Even on this day I still talk to the majority of all of my friends made on campus. We are all married now, have families and still return to our Alma Mater. Stop talking negative about this school and if you see a need support financially or by forcing our legislature here in Oklahoma to funnel more dollars to the only HBCU...

Absolutely the worst college/university, if you can call it that, in the state of Oklahoma! The program I was in was horribly run by faculty and staff that have no business leading students and a program. Not to mention, professionals in the field I was pursuing had nothing good to say about how Langston prepared their students for the professional world (Professionals including Doctors, Nurses and Therapists). In fact, several graduates of the program I was in told me they even tell prospective students to pursue a different university for their degree due to their own personal experiences. Outside of this particular program, the offices are either closed or, when open, the individual(s) I'm needing to speak with are not there. For such a small institution, they are always behind on anything and everything making it hard to get the simplest tasks accomplished. The only upside is that LU is inexpensive, but the upside is greatly overshadowed by the many experiences that make this University not even worth attending. After 1 semester there, I had to leave in fear of my program either being shut down, which has been the case for the entire university on numerous occasions in the past, or the program being on probabtion, which has also happened to numerous programs at LU. I hate to give a bad review and write the things that I did, but unfortunately it is the truth and high school, community college and graduate students need to know this before enrolling in this "institution." I understand that every college has their issues and quirks, but this school exceeds the norm. My advice, steer clear of this school because you deserve a better college experience and education that will equip you for life...

There's a lot of questionable faculty here. I was unlucky enough to meet a character who drives around in a car with personalized plates DR YT and braggs about his dad getting him hired so he'll never get fired for anything he does. He lures female students with rides on his motorcycle tours of labs then into having inappropriate relations for passing grades even when they don't have his classes and he never passes them and tells the others they'll be kicked out of school if they tell. Dr. Yonathan Tilahun went on bragging he has schizophrenia so he has a get out of jail free card. After that I started asking around campus I found out he had been arrested for domestic abuse in front of his kids and sexual misconduct including an incident in 2016 where he was photographed walking around the e.l Holloway building completely naked. A little research proved he's a POF tinder and casual encounters feign with 2-3 profiles on every social network passing for different personalities. They let this perverted creep be around young females. No way they don't know about his reputation it wasn't hard for us students to find out. Parents beware his office is right next to student housing and he's known to live out his office and always seen bringing his hookups there. This guy is bad news and no female students is off limits to him and he's married. He thinks he's untouchable don't take his classes and never be around him alone and record him.
