City of Laredo Landfill — Local services in Laredo

I used to dread this place because of the stench, but most importantly, the workers. BUT now, every time I go, everyone is kind and quick, and I appreciate that I can go toss my trash.

They have a place for things like paint or TVs, another for tires, and even for metal scrap (yes, you need to separate things like chemicals and batteries from your trash, you don't want them mixing with the rain water). The services are either free or cheap, you just need to present a recent water bill.

If more people used these services properly, our city would be much nicer. Remember to recycle and separate your trash properly! You can recycle used oil at the AutoZone...

If you live in Laredo, TX you can drive here and dump refuse for free. (Call their office for updates and changes.) Charges start at 2000 lbs. and above for trash, but you are eligible for a discount if you take and show a copy of your water/trash bill. It was nice to learn the facility is open on Saturdays, but it's best to get there by 4:30 PM, since the place closes at 5 PM and there's usually a line.

FYI: separate your HAZMAT products from regular trash. HAZMAT goes to a separate facility. Use the right lane going in. It moves quicker. No need to reweigh on the way out, if you didn't exceed the 2000 lb. limit.
