HORRIBLE !!!
For a while I have considered simply not creating an account to write reviews, but this experience is honestly not okay. Unfortunately, the owner tried to take this review down on Yelp, so I will be posting this on Google to notify everyone with the honest truth. For what has happened and the owner trying to remove my review the salon is still receiving a flat ZERO for the the poor services.
With all scheduled appointments that I have coordinated with a front desk receptionist or business owner, I always make sure to be cordial and communicate. That being said, I spoke with the front desk receptionist and brought up the possibility of emailing Elizabeth a few photos of my prior hair and what I was looking for realistically. However, the receptionist was initially short but professional, telling me that she would most likely not have enough time and instead showing her photos from my phone at the appointment will be better instead.
Fifteen to twenty minutes till my scheduled appointment time I arrived and asked for directions to the bathroom. For the most part, the overall atmosphere was familiar to many other salons in Marin County.
When Elizabeth introduced herself she come off as rather rushed and a little anxious. Again, all people go through things which is completely understandable. However, if you feel like you emotional state of mind can hinder your work and negatively reflect on a client, it seems reasonable to reschedule or have them see another hair stylist who has availability the same day or even hour?
After Elizabeth asked me what I was wanting, I showed her a few pictures of the same cut. After she had reasonable time to look over the pictures, I decided to communicate with her and asked if this cut and style will be reasonable with my hair. Of course, my hair type is the same as the girls in the photos...thus she insisted that it completely doable.
Throughout the washing, styling, and blow drying she continuously kept on sighing and rushing the process. Other hair stylist started looking over and even making small talk to her, as subtle lingo to essentially ask if she's good. This resulted in me feeling uncomfortable and making me regret scheduling services with her in the first place. Yet, I remained calm and decided to just let things flow with the best of my ability.
As she handed the mirror to me, she aggressively asked if I liked it...which wasn't anything what I asked for...and I replied saying the blowout made my hair appear more shiny.
On top of that, the receptionist was rather rude watching behind me, looking at my card information as I myself was processing the payment. I had a gut feeling of her low level energy being, creeping on me like a weirdo. I turned around to her giving me a smudge look and I wondered: did I take your parking spot or do I somehow remind you of someone you don't necessarily care for??
When I went to go see my friends for dinner they pointed out that a section on the left side of my hair profile had a section uneven and cut shorter than the other side. Immediately I scheduled another appointment with another hair salon who was able to correct the hair cut.
Overall, I don't recommend scheduling an appointment at Magnolia, and my friends are the ones who insisted that I write the review in the first place and even insist on a refund.
If you would want your own daughter or self to be treated and cared for decently at any salon attended--especially if you are decently kind to them...why are you unable to do or even try to reciprocate...
Read moreMy stylist (Paige?) had no understanding of balance and proportion. I came in with pretty long (mid-back length) hair and asked for the same cut only shorter ( long bob at the shortest) I got a chopped layered uneven mess. It's not only way too short, it even looks bad in a ponytail, because one side is heavily layered and the other one is not. There is a 4 inch difference in length between the longest and the shortest pieces and that's a lot for a shoulder length hair. It's been 2 days and I can't believe in what just happened. I burst in to tears right at the salon when I saw the finished look. 2 days later I still feel the same. I keep rewiring the day, our conversation, what could I have said differently to prevent this.. So now I don't even know what to do. My only option would be to cut my hair even shorter to even out the layers. That would mean going to long lashes locks to a short bob. I would have to match the shortest layers that are at my chin, but I just can't afford to have a short hair that would need ton of styling every morning. I really want to prevent other people from going to this place. I should have not been lazy and went to the city to see the most amazing stylist - Jeff at the Groove salon on Howard st, or Diva at the Diva salon at 1 Market, or Alexander G, and another half a dozen great places I've been to in the...
Read moreI’d like to point out that I have been to this salon many times and I have been satisfied with my results in the past. However, my most recent visit to this salon made me unbelievably upset. I went to the salon and my usual hair dresser was still working on the client before me. After waiting for a few minutes I hopped in the chair and we talked about what we wanted to do with my hair like we do every time. All I asked for was a root touch up on my highlights which I usually get at Magnolia every 2 months. I was expecting my usual outcome, a beautiful blonde brought up to the root. Unfortunately, 3 hours and $300 later, there was no difference. She evened out any orange/brass in my hair, which I appreciate, but the point of this appointment is to get my roots blonde, but it looks no different than my natural dark brown hair. I have a hard time speaking up for myself but I assumed she should know better than to let me leave with no difference to my hair. My hairdresser is overall an extremely nice and considerate person, but I am disappointed with my results and I will not...
