Thaxton's Market — Local services in Las Animas

After living in Las Animas for a year now, I can tell you this is not a good store to shop. Groceries are on average 30-40% more than local dollar store prices. Although meats, cheese and produce are reasonably priced, fresh bakery items are non existent. Furthermore at checkout don't expect to get cash back from your debit or credit card purchase. They do not give cash back. You'll have to use the ATM and pay a fee of course. For a small town with an annual median income if less than $26k per year this store is anything but the pride of the community. It's unfortunate that a little neighborhood grocery store that's so convenient and liked by so many hires the ,rudest, indignant cashiers I've ever seen. The two women that currently work there act as though they are doing you a huge favor by them just doing their job. It's not just me either. My neighbors say the same thing.
