Supermercados Econo — Local services in Las Piedras

It's a little dark, they need more lighting, but we like to go to Econo when we don't want to drive all the way to the Walmart in the next town over. Econo in San Lorenzo is a good market, a step up from Amigo, its neighbor. It has all your necessities at competitive prices. They come out with a regular mailer that usually will provide some pretty great discounts, especially on pork, a Puerto Rican favorite!

It's a larger market, in comparison to its neighboring market, Amigo. They have a larger produce selection and a larger butcher/deli section. They offer whole roast chicken for almost half the size of Costco chicken and at almost twice the amount ($8.00), similar to Amigo.

They have a slightly larger Asian/International section and the products are also overpriced. As I said in a previous review, if you want a larger "Asian" variety, go to the Walmart in Caguas or ask someone to ship you items from the states.

There are several check out counters, with a couple of "express lanes." The staff are friendly enough.

Parking is a nightmare, then again, parking and drivers in Puerto Rico is just one big nightmare. I know that's harsh, but it's true.

Some side notes: They do sell lottery tickets. They do not have a redbox and a coinstar/coin to cash machine. Good-sized butcher's section at the end of the produce isle. Small bakery to the far left of the entrance and a take out window with tables for dinning in. There is an ATM in store. They still provide plastic bags, but will be going away with them soon.

Overall, we like shopping at Econos for their deals, their larger selection and if we are too lazy to travel to Caguas for Costco...

Process are relatively average for the area. The condition of the facilities is very poorly maintained, dirty and doesn't smell the best for a place you're shopping food for. My experience today with the service was disappointing. There were no cashiers available for the customers with less than 5 groceries, when the cashier appeared, her attitude towards the customers was not acceptable. Her attitude was not proper, she didn't greet no one, wasn't...
