Dollar General — Local services in Lavonia

This would have been the best dollar general I have ever seen (and it makes sense why due to the area) with all of the fresh produce all the way to a full assortment of hallmark cards, this place has everything for us during our stay in Gumlog but…the lady behind the counter was typically rude. Along walking in she is staring and decides not to do her job, at the least and greet like she would normally any other customer, so I stared back, she turned her head. She turns her head back and says, in a fair mannered voice, “What is that you are looking for?” I and my oldest son, kept walking and I said a greeting like everyone would, would have been a great start but pride cannot allow some people to do that.” It is literally in customer service people’s job description but in the word we live in people want you to get used to the uncomfortable presence a black family gives them and I am always here to combat that with intelligence but never trying to convince nor teach another culture for that is a lose-lose battle. Stated this for decades: They are extremely infatuated and they are extremely fearful of us at the very same time, I do not have time for it. I fear no man. I only teach and advise my people to do the correct thing. For example my son normally would greet a person at the counter but he did not when we finally finished checking out of this fantastic establishment so I asked him to say hello, immediately after I said hello ma’am. She greeted my hello but said nothing to my sons. My son turned and said she didn’t even say anything and then he started to walk off toward the chips in the entrance way. I said to him like I normally do, it is Ohk, people do not have to say anything as long as you put your pride to the side and did your part. She chuckled a lil bit and said yup that is right in agreeance. As I was checking out the tap pay was not working and she asked me to swipe kindly, respect, and I said yes ma’am and did. Then I received a $5 cash back reward from my credit USAA and I obliged and then a review screen popped up, by the grace of God because I love to share my experience with the world and the people who can see them to always push that people are being good people but others rather negativity and honestly that is just where we are as a society but I will never tolerate that because I am not doing that.

I prompted the highly dissatisfied option and said it out long to myself she slightly yelped, “Dissatisfied?!” I turned and yes. Be kind. No matter what you feel in your heart. Always be kind. She know nothing of what I go thru nor have gon thru and neither do I about her and her life so I lead with love and hardly expect it but will always handle it if carelessly treated or slighted. I also said my son said hello and I am pretty sure if another young person of another decent said hello you would have spoke but you chose to show my son the ignorance that the world thrives on. More evidence of sadness in people across the country and world.

I will never allow my children to get used to that mindset. They will continue to push the best for their families and people around them, they will continue to love themselves so they can love others and they WILL stay consistent in their goals. Bottom line. I love it, I stand for something and never ride the fence, because I could fall...

I love the store and So does everyone within 5 miles. CS is great and friendly. The reason for the 3 stars is because everyone loves it within 5 to 10 miles. There is never any stock. Always out of drinks, milk, bread basicly most essential items. It is also the only str around within 8 miles. Plus it is right at a very popular lake state park, with camping. Summer is crazy. They missed a perfect opportunity to put a big market place store. It's needed in the area plus there is plenty of room. For some reason, stores want to put the market place stores within a very populated area leaving out the rural areas which need a store like that. Unless the county is playing the "Good ol boy" politics, to keep one from coming in. It would be a great service to the people in this area..Not to mention the visitors at the park. It's a PITA to drive 4 miles to find out the basic essentials are out then have to turn around and drive 10 miles the other way, to go into town. I'm glad the store is here but why not stock accordingly...

I'd give zero stars if I could .. I'm local and this store is absolutely a mess. They are never stocked. The store needs major revamping and clearing out of bad employees from corporate. . . They close early even though they're supposed to close at 10... Half the time we go at 8:30 or before 9 and the employees are standing in the parking lot gossiping or cursing instead of manning the store. Lights are on but the doors are locked and they scream to anyone pulling up "they're closed!" The registers and card machines don't work half the time... You can never find anyone to help you. It's absolutely ridiculous to even bother driving to this location for anything... Might as well take the time and drive all the way into town. Corporate needs to do a major overhaul in...
