UPDATE FROM RESPONSE: I apologize for insulting you as the groundskeeper. As far as informing/educating me... I hold strong to the fact that there are fungi on some of the greens as many have commented on your reviews, I immediately talked to people who are in the men's assoc. and they concur, some is fungus and some is burnt. Again, I know it is hard with the weather and I do think scaling back my comment is fair for that. As far as the bathroom goes, the women's lock is not just me. I have had several women talk with me asking me to watch the door while we were stopping. It does not go in the lock without lifting the door and that is not easy at all. I am pleased you noticed the trash. I can tell you I was just one of your starting tee times this last time and of course have been on more than one occasion. If it is the "kids" cleaning they aint cleaning toilets! I'll let your imagination figure out what I mean by that. Also, I have to tell you a personal story that when I took down my pants to use the restroom a spider crawled into them and I was bit on my thigh by a non-poisonous spider, so ya, the pest guy needs some informing/education. I do appreciate you addressing and as I have supported the Sargent's Assoc. for several years, played there at least 100 times and been friendly with the staff, who probably know who I am and what business I own...I did not do this lightly and my only hope, as is yours, I am sure, is to get it to one of the best courses for the money as it has been for many years. Thank you, Seanna.
Ok, so this is to be our home course and we've been a couple times and I thought it was a one off. However these are the things that just went to hell.
#1 and most Obvious, it's dirty , there's trash everywhere and not from the dump. It was all around the clubhouse, like bad! #2 I've asked for the lock to be fixed on the mid bathrooms for yeeeears! I've been walked in by so many women and men I feel like an Only fan worker (without the pay). Still not done.
#3 Never a Marshall and when there is he doesn't do anything.
#4 Greens are infected and short so bad we call it "Sunburnt Hills. *accepting partially that the greenskeeper says its burnt.
#5 The new price. We will pay anything to play a good course. Pelican Bay, Pebble Beach (in other words is not the cost) If you feel good about charging more than Glen Eagle or even BOUNTIFUL RIDGE, at the very least let's not have trash everywhere, clean the damn bathrooms and kill some black widows and for god sakes Get a new grounds keeper!
Very disappointing, it used to be a "go to". Sun Hills management might not like this review but to change my review from 5 stars to this was not a decision I take...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePlayed 18 holes here this past week and the course is in TERRIBLE condition! Much of the course is blotchy and barren of much needed turf, especially fairways and perimeters. No sign of spring fertilization whatsoever, and it appears that the only water the course has received is from seasonal rain/snowfall. Greens have had some grooming and care, but not enough to clear up rough spots and winter fungus. No trimming of bunker edges, and the care of fringes are lacking, along with what appears to be virtually no care of rough and in-course OB areas. I have traditionally played this course as much as once a week during the regular golf season (nearly $1000.00 in greens fees just last year), but I will not be back again until significant grounds keeping efforts have cleared up these unexcusable substandard playing conditions. Last year heat and drought was rough on this course, but that should not be an excuse for its current condition. It has had record snowfall this winter/spring and water rationing is no longer an issue, yet it appears that there has been no water whatsoever applied this year by way of any secondary watering systems. Very sad. This can be an exceptional course, given proper care and grooming.
Update: June 2023 - I have since returned and significant improvements have been made. Watering and greens care is evident. Efforts have obviously been made to improve conditions. Additional grounds keeping would certainly further improve the course, but it is at least playable now, and I anticipate continuing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNever been treated worse at a golf course. From the second I showed up started loading my clubs into a golf cart, had an employee screaming on the megaphone āYoung man do NOT load your clubs into that cart.ā Considering I am far from a young man, and I paid for the cart I found it extremely rude and inappropriate. Unload my clubs, walk to the club house, he gets back on the speaker yelling at me to hurry and pick a cart. Then when my dad and I pick separate carts, due to Covid recommendations, he yells at us telling us we canāt take two carts because they are āshort on carts.ā Iām sorry, but you not having enough carts for your golfers is not my problem. I put my health and the health of my family over your problem of a shortage of carts. (We both paid for carts). Then, as we approach the tee box, he gets on the speaker yelling at me that I need to pay an extra fee for the extra cart. Reminding you again, we both paid for a cart, but because of THEIR shortage of carts, he made us pay and ADDITIONAL $7 because we had to take 2 carts instead of riding together. In all, unfriendly staff, that does NOT care about any Covid guidelines. This golf course should NOT be open if they cannot accommodate their golfers like all the other...
