Edge UTV Rental — Local services in Lead

I do not recommend The Edge UTV Rental in Lead, SD to rent from at all. They were highly unprofessional, demeaning and unsafe. We had rented a 6 seater Yamaha Viking from them for 2 days (Sat/Sun), they had overnight rental which is why we picked them. We were here for a Memorial Day family vacation with 16 people. Our friends also rented an identical 6 seater Yamaha side by side for the trip too from The Edge.

Our 6 seater’s lights came on after we had gone thru 2 mud puddles. We called the shop, left a message and the service mechanic, Wyatt, called us back. He told us to keep driving it (we told him what all lights were on & what the water pressure gage was at). It died on top of a hill and we rolled down it backwards, super scary & unsafe for my kids. It was towed back to the shop.

When we arrived at 8am the next morning, to pick up our new UTV they were beyond unprofessional. After going back & forth on if they would allow us to take a different machine or not they ended up refunded me for half of my reservation which was one day.

Our friends who also rented a 6 seater from them as well - their machine died on Sunday morning & had to be towed back to the shop too.

I agree 💯 with the other 1-star review, that the vehicles seemed as though they had no upkeep or maintenance, and were quite frankly not safe. The experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing.

A huge shout out to Mystic Hills for rescuing the day (Sun) and giving us the opportunity to have one of the best UTV and off-roading...

Group rental on June 22nd. Out of 3 UTV's, ours was the only one with a rear view mirror. After being out for 2 hours, the 4 place UTV was unable to climb a hill and went into limp mode. This UTV left our group and headed back to Edge to find out what they would do to rectify the situation. Their technician blamed the driver and they were told that there were no other UTV's to swap out to. When asked for a partial refund we were told by the staff it was our fault. As the rest of the group returned, it was noted that they were already renting the 4 place UTV to a young family without performing the necessary maintenance on the machine. Drove by a couple hours later and the two other machines we returned were already rented out. They charged our group for full day rentals and obviously double dipped on machine rentals with not even a partial refund to our group. When our group leader tried to contact them, they had blocked her number. Obviously more interested in fleecing the public than providing customer service. Also, most their UTV's do not meet state code to be operated on the main roads to the trails as they are lacking rear view mirrors and the necessary flags we saw on other UTV...

We had such a great experience with Edge UTV Rental in Lead, South Dakota! From start to finish, they were excellent communicators and so easy to work with. Their machines were top-notch — well-maintained, powerful, and made for an unforgettable ride through the Black Hills.

Even though we unfortunately had some damage along the way, they handled the situation professionally and worked with us to resolve it fairly, which we really appreciated. It’s rare to find a business that combines great equipment with outstanding customer service, but Edge ATV Rental delivers on both fronts.

We will absolutely be back and highly recommend them to anyone looking for an awesome...
