Hiked this 12/25/20. Saw 2 other Hikers and 1 Paraglider who launched from the summit. I would recommend Direct NW Ridge to avoid Avalanche danger. Long Sawatch giant, snowshoes are recommended as well as ice axe and helmet. Great views, you can see around 20 other 14ers from this vantage point! Winter conditions are tough but beautiful.

This one felt steeeeppp most of the way through, since it was all foot trail instead of the cycle I'm more familiar with: [4wd road with milder grade, walk up to the ridgeline, then start the short and steep finish to the summit]. I was also getting sick, though. Plenty of pikas! So many other mountains to see from the summit!

Terrific - butt busting hike. Be sure to look for the foot bridge (on your left) that crosses the river about 1 mile in - can be hard to spot if you start in the dark. Although I don't use them all the time, poles made all the difference on this one.

Fantastic views from top. Trail up generally in good shape - there is a section towards the summit where the trail was a little hard to follow and had to scramble a little more than expected. Watch that your feet don't slip out on the downhill, there's some slippery sections. I didn't have walking poles on this trip...
