Touring this historic site is always such a wonderful experience and the staff amazing …Emma, our tour guide and Mike, who keeps the barrels of precious bourbon moving, did not disappoint. We bring out of town guests here all the time, but today, we visited for a team-building day “field trip” with the employees of Bootleg Bourbon Balls, to show with them how the bourbon we use in our handcrafted bourbon balls is made. Coming here is like traveling back in time, especially since the distillery has been around since 1856. We saw the still house that dates back to the mid-1800’s and learned how Ben Holladay started using limestone water to create the best Missouri bourbon.
Walking among the aging barrels, we could almost hear the whispers of the past. The rich aroma of bourbon in the air was simply intoxicating (pun intended)! And the best part? We got to see, smell, taste, and touch Real Missouri Bourbon being made, just as it has been for over 160 years. It's incredible to think that despite the modern techniques, they’re still using that original recipe from way back when. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves bourbon and are history buffs. Ben would be proud and we are as well, to have this historical distillery in Weston, Missouri. Thank you to the entire team of Holladay Distillery for sharing your passion, expertise and the rich history of your craft with us during our...
Read moreThis was the main event of a birthday weekend to the KC area. I want to tell you how amazing this place is. We were the first tour of the day, and we arrived shortly after they opened the doors for the day. We were greeted as we entered into the bar area by Morgan with the biggest smile and the warmest greeting. She gave us a quick run down of the main area and let us go and check it all out. We let them know that we were there for the tour and they checked us in. We got a couple of drinks from the bar area and waited for our tour to start. There is a great indoor lounge space and a really cool porch space to enjoy your drinks. Everything was amazing. Then we met our tour guide Jackie and she was even better. Everyone was checked in and ready for the tour so we got started a little early. The tour itself was amazing and full of great information and some interactive parts mixed in. It finished up in the tasting room where we tried a handful of the bourbons that they distill as well as an Irish cream product that they distill as well. What an amazing experience. It was the talk of the rest of the trip. Would I do it again 100 percent yes! This was an amazing experience and if you are on the fence if it is worth the price tag. Book with confidence you will have a great time! Beautiful property with...
Read moreI had no idea we had an actual bourbon distillery close to home. I love my bourbon. I've learned to love and appreciate the craft of it over the years. I'm a fan of its history, its artistry and its uniquely American legend. My thoughtful son took me here for my recent birthday. He knows how much I love my bourbon. Who knew we had a limestone filtered spring nearby or that the region had such a history with bourbon. You usually think 'Kentucky' - because that's the Mecca for all the great bourbon distillers. The tour was fascinating. The tour guide - at first, I thought this young whipper snapper isn't going to know anything about the art..... doesn't happen often, but I was wrong. Young man was extremely knowledgeable and an engaging, articulate speaker. An excellent ambassador for this distillery. It's now a point of pride that we have a quality bourbon distillery right here at home. To me, McCormick had always stood for cheap, low quality booze.....This ain't McCormick. Hollady OWNS McCormick. Do yourself a favor. Visit. Take the tour. Learn some little-known Missouri history. Gain some Show Me pride. And for God's sake. Buy a...
