I don't live in the area but was passing through and stopped in to Grandpa's Fresh Market to get late season ingredients to make pasta sauce. Tomatoes, gypsy peppers and onions. I have bought produce a lot of places but I have never seen such a quantity of beautifully ripe produce. They had multiple varieties of both peppers and tomatoes and lots of them. The picture will tell the quality. I understand they offfer u-picks for several varieties in season. Their stand was full of fall squash and enormous pumpkins. I am not going to try to list all they had, but I was impressed they still had fresh peaches and a bin full of fresh picked corn. Their stand is right on their farm so they were bringing in stuff from the fields while we were there. We had limited space on our road trip so I had to stick to the sauce ingredients, but I wanted to load up. I wish we had something like this close to me. The other half of the soup will be kept frozen to top some sort of pasta ...later. I have shopped here for over 8 yrs, and I have always been very happy. There is a large old rooster there, and he crows all day. He is really cool. Wish I had taken his picture. My dog was not happy...

Why I didn't ask to taste them first is beyond me. Stupidity I guess! I didn't try them till the next day. My God! Talk about SOUR!!! I WILL HAVE TO USE AN ENORMOUS AMOUT OF SUGAR. If I was the clerk I think I might have told someone buying that many that they were a little sour. Not a word. Oh well, live and learn! Next...
