Took my nephew here so he could spend his bday money to get a new game. What he was looking for wasn't there but they had their pre-owned copy that was only available online. He was there with money & gift cards and wanted to leave with something new to play when he got home and they kept trying to convince him to order the pre-owned until I made it clear our answer was no. Then he found a controller he wanted but the price seemed high to me and I was right. Amazon had it for $20 cheaper but part of his money was a GameStop gift card. Finally he found a game wanted to get and when we got to the counter the employee kept trying to get his personal info for their data but said it's for rewards. He doesn't go there enough and he's too young to give his name and an email to a store. After tell him no he started to pitch their membership that's $25 and it only gets him 5% off stuff traded in. He acted like he was a friend and knew it was best for him to get over anything else. I had to explain to my nephew he couldn't afford both plus it wouldn't do anything for him. After hearing this the guy interrupted our personal conversation and said I could cover it for him. I started to get mad at this point and said absolutely no he just wants a game to go home with. Then he scanned the game and tried to sell him a warranty for it by trying to tell him he can be as rough with his disks and GameStop will replace it no matter what. This was telling him he can be irresponsible for the game and they will give him a new one no matter what. I told my nephew no and he needs to be more caring and responsible for his stuff to prove he can handle more expensive gifts. After what felt like the fourth hard no to the add-ons to the sale he then tried to get my nephew to reserve an upcoming game and put money down for it even though it's months away from releasing. After walking out I felt so bad for my nephew for what I felt like was a toxic sales experienced. Gamestop poses as a toy store but is really just a pawn shop. From now on I'm just going to get his games and accessories from Amazon instead of a place that feels like a...

Read moreI went to check out a game and, when the store leader rung me up, he automatically applied the two year warranty to my purchase without my consent.
At every other GS I shop at I am asked if I want the warranty before anything is punched into the POS system. The store manager just said “and after discount and a two year warranty your total is $$$.”
When I asked if he put the warranty on before he asked if I wanted it he backpedaled and started removing it. He explained it was his job to show the value of the purchase, I argued I didn’t want anything on the ticket if I wasn’t even asked about it first. He had plethora of things to say on why he did it, all avoiding the fact he did not ask me if I wanted it in the first place.
As soon as he rang me up with the extra charges the POS system immediately asked for payment information. If someone weren’t paying attention they’d be spending more than they bargained for.
Warranties are fine. We need transparency in transactions. This was borderline deception on the...
