PLEASE READ! I'm going to start by saying what an absolute horrible experience we have had with this company. My Fiance was a member of 24 hour fitness, has been for a year now, well due to his current job we is working 56 hours a week and has no time to go to the gym. We called up to Genesis roughly 3 weeks ago to see what it would be to cancel the membership. Travis Jewell was the employee that he had spoken with, who informed us that since he is in contract he would be charged a cancellation fee of $150 or he could find someone to take over his membership and payments. We of course started looking for anyone who would want the membership of $32 a month. A guy he went to high school with contacted him stating he would like to take over the membership, Perfect! My fiance then tried to contact Travis 2 day's in a row knowing our payment was coming up within the next couple weeks and was wanting to get the membership transferred over before it charged us. My fiance finally contacted the manager on Friday the 17th stating he neither him nor the buddy taking the membership have heard anything from Travis all week and letting him know that we have received nothing but terrible customer service from their establishment, the manager said Travis was off Friday for a "family emergency" or something of that sort, it was St. Patrick's Day, but that's beside the point. Travis called us this last week stating he was very disappointed that we had contacted the manager and said that nothing was getting done. Travis then stated he had tried to call the other person taking over the membership, and didn't hear anything back from him which is a lie because we had asked the other guy if Travis had called. With that being said Travis told us everything was taken care of he is getting the membership transferred over and that will be that. Great! As of yesterday 3/27/2017 we were charged with the Genesis Health Club payment, at this point I am LIVID! My fiance contacts the Payment services and they tell us there is nothing we can do for you today as the statement is already closed, they will call back tomorrow morning, which they did not call us. I then reach out to Facebook to try and get in contact with Travis directly, since we obviously can not get in touch with him through his job. I then get a message from the Assistant Manager of Travis stating that Travis had made a mistake and that they cannot transfer 24 hour memberships to anyone else and to cancel we would need to pay off the entire 2 year contract which would cost us $369, at this I AM BLOWN AWAY, so not only was Travis completely in the wrong, promising us false information, but he obviously made a huge mistake and instead of contacting us 3 weeks ago and admitting his faults, he has strung us along for weeks, and did absolute NOTHING for us. On top of our issues, they are now charging the man taking over our membership full price! Completely horrible, even though the Assistant Manager was more of a help in 5 minutes than Travis was in 3 weeks, I will absolutely not be paying Genesis anymore of our money. We have tried to contact corporate and everyone in between in regards to this situation and have heard absolutely NOTHING back from anyone, so as a last ditch effort I am reaching out through reviews to let you know that if someone does not contact me and get this figured out and Travis fired, I am getting a lawyer and we will see you in court. Thank you for reading. I would give 0 stars if I could and will never recommend this establishment to anyone, and ours is not the first problem I have heard of with...
Read moreSince the switch to Genesis, it's been rocky. Unhelpful front desk staff. My card was lost and the payment needed updated and they said I have to come in person, but when I came in, the person who can update the stuff wasn't there. This is very inconvenient. A simple phone call should have corrected this. In my opinion, completely unacceptable. I can think of no other instance in my life where I was told to come in person to pay with a credit card.
They charge late fees when this occurs but don't inform you that there's a problem with payment until it's too late. That's unacceptable.
It's an amazing facility. Needs more leg sleds and squat racks. Genesis has been bringing in lots of new faces who aren't the most considerate of others. Gym bags left on the floor, lots of circuit trainers and slow machine users. I think an emphasis on patrolling the gym during peak hours is needed.
The grounds need to be cleaned up. Leaves piled across the sidewalk on the NE corner. There's too much litter in the parking and grounds that stayed for the last ten days or so.
I preferred the fingerprint scanner method of entry. Now, I have to lug around a key card, which is inconvenient.
Overall, an amazing facility with outstanding machine selection. They do a decent job of keeping it clean. The management is getting better. 24 hour access is important to me. I'm giving three stars, docking two stars because of the customer service issues I've had. I will update this after a few months if they continue to improve. I wear out credit cards and have to update them often and I expect another late fee surprise. 24 Hour was...
Read moreThe GM, Clement, is a phenomenal person and a great caretaker of the Genesis brand. He’s there all the time and is accessible to all members and his staff. If you spend any time there, you can’t miss him interacting with many people with a smile on his face.
There are a few other trainers who’ve been there for years who are solid people. You can tell they enjoy what they do and are always engaged in friendly banter with members.
Unfortunately, there are some newer front desk and trainer employees who are aggressive, rude and disrespectful.
If anyone has ever asked for help from someone in the retail world and they just ignored you, then held up a finger and wouldn’t even look in your direction knows you probably would never go back there again. Not sure why anyone thinks they can treat anyone that way, let alone a member of 20 years+, dating back to 24 Hour Fitness.
Individuals who treat people like this, do this all of the time, and sadly, most people just take it because they avoid confrontation. They do it so often with impunity, that when someone actually calls them out, they play the victim card. It’s actually quite bizarre. And sad. If you don’t want to work with the public, then don’t.
I’m not going to let a few bad apples taint the reputation Clement and all the others have worked so hard to establish and maintain. That’s why I still give this location 4-stars. And it’s hard for Clement and the other managers to see every unprofessional moment of those in their employ. I know Clement is always open...
