First off, I want to state that I have only been in the Plato's Closet in Lee's Summit, therefore this rating only applies to that particular store. As a regular shopper at this store, I would say that, overall the prices for shirts and dresses are reasonable. However, the prices on bags are too high, so beware! Most of the clothing sold is in excellent condition and it is easy to sift through the clothes and find unique pieces. The store is quite busy though, which is good for sales, but that is the vibe you get when you walk in. The main focus is for them to get money, not on the customer. I understand being busy and overwhelmed by that, but every time I have been there the employees seem irritated when I ask for a dressing room or when I want to check out. Do not go in there expecting someone to help you. In terms of selling your gently used clothing to them, forget it. I have tried in the past to sell my stuff to them and not only did I have to wait a very long time to get my stuff looked at, but total, out of the three times I tried selling to them, I have only sold one item. I do not even try to sell my stuff anymore, I just give it to Goodwill or the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe girls working when I came in to drop off clothes were nice but when I came back (4hrs later) it was a totally new crew who completely ignored me until I addressed them. When I picked up what they didn't take the girl who reluctantly helped me ran through her script& didn't give me any time to process or give me any kind of reason for why they didn't want a brand new pair of vans, a never-worn cardigan, any of my graphic tees or other items that I spent time making sure matched their anal policies for clothes they'd consider. Any other Plato's I've ever been to has always gone over a list of what they liked, what they didn't like& why. I guess it would've just taken time away from the group of girls huddling together to talk at the front of the store& ignore more customers. Nothing I brought in was too plain, nothing was too worn/distressed/faded, they were all from popular brands, and they were in season. I wish I'd just taken all the clothes back& let them keep their measly $20 in exchange for a pair of $90 abercrombie jeans I only wore a handful of times and a couple...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love the idea of selling some of my old name brand clothing items for a little extra cash. That is why I came here. When I dropped off my 10 items they told me it would be about 45 minutes until they could figure out what they wanted, which was fine. I waited. When I returned to the store 45 minutes later, I was told that 9 items were bought and that I would get $9.90. The cashier asked me if I had a dime so she could give me an even $10, when I did not have a dime she said ok and handed me back only $9. I went out to my car and found a dime and returned to retrieve my $1. She then handed me back $0.90, to which I corrected her saying she owed me a dollar. She rolled her eyes and looked at her co-workers like I was being a nuisance and went to the register to get me the dollar. I then left and realized I was never given back my 10th item. The hassle that I encountered for selling all my stuff for just $10 was barely worth it. Also, teach the cashiers to do simple math and to not be rude when she is kindly corrected for not being able to do that...
