My fiance got my engagement ring at this store and we overall had a terrible experience there.
First off, when he ordered the ring in mid-December, he was told it would be available in early January. Then they changed their story and said that due to holidays and office closures it would not be available until late January. However, he pressured them and was able to get the ring the day before we left on a vacation, where he proposed. He had asked for the specs of the stones to be sent with the ring, but they weren't.
He got me a three stone ring and the side stones were taken from a pair of earrings that they had in store and they did not have to be sourced, which meant he got a good deal on them (which was the only good thing about dealing with this store). It was shipped to him but after he proposed, I immediately saw that the side stones were noticeably different sizes. When my fiance contacted them, Elle (a manager who he placed the order with) was very rude and defensive through texts and told him he was wrong and implied that he was trying to get an upgrade on the stones without paying for them, which is false because we liked the smaller stone more of the two that were there. He also asked for the specs of the stones and she would tell him the color or clarity but not the carat.
When I went in store for her to look at it, she realized she was wrong and that the stones were very noticeable different sizes. The owner (Rodger) was there and said yes they were different sizes and they were both surprised no one had noticed it initially in store. He also noted that the prongs of the side stones were different lengths so that he thought that they would have to remake the band otherwise it would be off and in his words, an engagement ring "should be perfect." They said they had other earrings in store that should be the same size of stones and they would send all four stones to San Francisco where the ring was made and the person who made it there would choose the stones that matched best for side stones. And to be honest, I can understand why the stone size mix-up happened because the posts that the earrings were in made it hard to see the exact dimensions of the stones, even if they were the same carat. At that point, the owner said, "Don't worry, we'll fix it" and I felt so relieved. I also wanted it resized down a half size so I asked them if they could do that while it was sent out, and they said that they could. They sent it out and I waited 2 weeks before we called the store for an update and they said oh, actually it is ready you can come pick it up, which was annoying as I was without the ring during that time and they didn't have the courtesy to call when it came in.
Now comes the worst part of the story because I could forgive the rudeness and mistakes if they were willing to correct their mistakes: they did not resize the ring AND while the side stones are a much better match now, the setting was not fixed and the ring itself is asymmetrical so that I can tell clearly which side originally had the larger stone. When brought up, they said they weren't sure if the company they work with resized the ring or of they forgot to do it. This makes no sense to me because there should be clear lines of communication. When I mentioned the uneven setting they said that it was in my head and it wasn't noticeable, which is just not true because they had all seen it when I first showed it to them. I didn't push the issue because we had to fight so much to get the stones to match and I was tired of arguing over something that was supposed to make me happy.
I also had to ask for the specs of ring (again) when I was in store and they said they would email it to me, which they didn't. After another reminder they finally emailed it to me fiance.
Overall, it was a very disappointing and frustrating customer service experience and would never recommend any of my friends or...
Read moreI cannot tell you how thrilled I am with the ring that I had custom made from Rodgers! I had been designing and dealing with nightmare customer service for SIX months, from several other jewelers before I happened upon Rodgers. I had just gotten a diamond shipped to me from a jewelry store in Texas. A "family friend" who was supposed to give me a deal of a lifetime, in fact had sent me a yellow diamond with a big carbon flaw right in the center. (I had told the guy no carbon and color was most important so I don't know how he thought this was acceptable). Completely devastated, I drove down the street to Rodgers and was instantly cheered up by Elle and Elise. They looked at the diamond with me with no hidden agenda. Rodger came out and looked at the diamond, agreeing it was not the G color and VS2 clarity promised, and offered to find me a better diamond. Unfortunately, I was at the top end of my boyfriend and I's budget and so getting a better diamond meant spending more money. So, basically I was asking Rodger and his staff to find a real G, VS2 for the same price my family friend had only been able to get me a K?, SI1! At about the point when I thought surely these people must think I'm nuts and won't want to bother with me anymore, Elle called me to say she was going to a conference and would be on the hunt for a diamond for me! Long story short, I got a beautiful diamond at a fantastic price. My boyfriend lives in St. Louis so I literally traveled to jewelry stores in and around St. Louis and Kansas City and everywhere in between! So, when I say that Rodgers is the best jewelry store in MO, it is an understatement because I had looked in Kansas and Texas as well! (I am pretty stubborn and I was not going to give up on my dream ring without contacting every jeweler, lol) If someone was willing to take the time to look (You would think a $10,000 sale might get them mildly interested) they quoted me a price $3000 higher than what Rodgers was able to do. I have read the other reviews on here, and find it funny that I actually had a bad experience at Eskews and found them very overpriced, so I think that no store is able to satisfy every customer, every time. But I will say I looked online at "discount" places, I went to small stores with low overhead, I went to big chains who "cut out the middle men", and I even tried my "connections" and I am shocked that the best place was just right down the street in...
Read morePrior to buying an engagement ring at Rodgers, I took my fiance to three other shops (two of the major chains, and another local) in order to find out exactly what she wanted. She saw two that she really loved, so I wanted to have a ring made that was a combination of what she liked about both rings (the band and mill-grain from one, the halo and diamond from the other). I contacted two of the stores to see if they could make it for me, and what the cost would be. One store tried to talk me out of what I wanted and into something I didn't want; and the other's cost was out of my price range. I am a teacher, so with a teacher's salary and after these conversations I wasn't sure how I was going to get my dream girl her dream ring. I spoke to my father, and he told me to go to Rodger.
I took my questions and ideas to Rodgers, where I spoke with Elle and Rodger. Here is where I want to address the negative comments about customer service that I read in the other reviews; Elle and Rodger are nothing but professional. I never felt pressured or "bugged". Also, whenever Elle and/or Rodger helped me, they were focused on answering my questions and making my experience and purchase perfect. Neither ever made me feel like I asked stupid question, or they were in a hurry to make their sale and get on to the next. I had their undivided attention. There is something to be said about that quality of customer service.
Elle and Rodger are both extremely helpful and knowledgeable about "all things" diamond rings. Elle educated me on aspects from clarity of diamonds, to how a diamond should be mounted within a halo; and Rodger has been in the jewelry game longer than anyone. After choosing to have the ring made at Rodgers, I walked out of the store with a price and a timeframe. I felt great. Then, on top of it all, Elle emailed me a computer animated image of the ring and design details before the end of the week. I had the ring in my pocket ahead of schedule, and it looked even better than anticipated... it truly was perfect.
Since getting engaged, we have been back to Rodgers to: pick out my wedding ring, pick out her wedding bands, and get two watches fixed. Not to mention, the countless times my fiance has been in to get her ring steam cleaned for free. I have referred several friends to Rodgers, and I have yet to hear a negative comment. Rodgers is my jewelry store, and Elle and Rodger have made a loyal...
