Let's start with the positives: the place is very cute and the toys are great. My kids had a lot of fun. The negatives are more on the management side of things, and could be easily fixed. First, it seems the rules apply only to guests and not the kids the owner is "watching." Those children were running around without socks, and eating and drinking in the play areas. I had to keep my baby from grabbing food and juice boxes from the owner's child in the baby area. One of the kids in the owner's charge was a little girl who kept picking up the toys and putting them away while my kids were trying to play with them. She told me she "works" there because her mom is friends with the owner. I saw her sweeping up messes, spraying down toys to clean, and organizing toys all while the owner sat at the front on her phone or laptop (maybe dept of labor can sort that one out). When she wasn't "working," she was running wild and jumping on top of toys and pointing a toy gun in my daughter's face saying she is a robber. Definitely won't be coming back.
**Update- I connected with the owner and they acknowledged my concerns in a professional and respectful manner, and issued me a full refund...
Read moreThis indoor play place is undeniably cute and has a lot of potential! However, I did notice a couple of areas where it could be improved. In our time attending I didn't notice staff walk through to check for messes or reset spaces. Just on their phone.
The most pressing issue for me was the acoustics. Even normal conversation created a very loud and echoing environment due to the lack of sound-absorbing materials. It felt intrusively loud just talking to my child. Perhaps incorporating some sound-dampening elements, or even just playing some soft background music could help.
In terms of play, I found the toy selection somewhat limited, which made it challenging to foster imaginative play, especially with the need to keep toys confined. It would be fantastic to see some more structured play opportunities or objectives. For example the "salon" area could benefit from doll heads and suggested styles to recreate, or a "design your own" activity could involve re-decorating the stripped veggie cans.
Overall, it's a charming spot with promise, but it does feel a bit hastily put together. I'm curious to see how it evolves...
Read moreSummit Play Village has such a fun and creative setup! I love the four little “buildings” for pretend play, each with its own theme, plus the two play sets that give kids plenty of ways to explore. My child had a blast here, and for the price, I think it’s a great value. The only concerns I had were with the noise level and the flooring. Even with just a few families, it got very loud, which made it feel a bit overwhelming at times. In the market area, some tiles overlap and stick up, and I stubbed my toe on them a few times. At one point, I even scraped my knee trying to move with my child. With kids busily moving around, I do think this could be a safety hazard. I also noticed small gaps where the different floor types meet that could cause someone to trip. Overall, though, I really enjoyed the space and think it has so much potential. With a few fixes to the flooring and maybe some sound-dampening, this could easily be one of our favorite...
