I don’t normally leave reviews, but it was absolutely necessary for The Cherry Bomb because of how fantastic my experience was. If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, look no further. All of the staff is extremely friendly, the parlor could not have been cleaner, and the overall vibe is welcoming and inclusive. I was a little nervous about being a walk-in on a Saturday but they were super nice and communicated with me how long I would be waiting and honestly got me in pretty quick. I only waited an hour! Although we had great interactions with the entire staff, I have to point out my tattoo artist, John. He is AMAZING. He is super friendly and really took the time to figure out exactly what I wanted. I’m not kidding I showed him two inspiration pictures and he looked at them for less than a minute disappeared for 10 minutes and came back with an exact replica that he drew up. He is very talented! He even talked to me about my budget and what I was looking to pay. He was very efficient, professional, and caring. Not only was the interaction and experience with John great, but his work turned out better than I expected. Pictured below, I wanted a dragon fly and star with shading and fine lines. John was precise (and a little OCD as he stated) and this large tattoo only took him an hour to complete. Walked in on a Saturday night for a medusa piercing. The wait was much longer than we were told over the phone, which we didn’t mind because the piercer was in the middle of a tattoo. When I was called to pick out jewelry and get pricing ( which they couldn’t give me over the phone or even before I filled out paperwork) all of the pieces I wanted were out of stock. I finally settled on one and got the piercing done. All of the staff was super helpful and nice, the vibe was really cool and pricing was reasonable. BUT, my issue comes two weeks later when my piercing was healing into my lip and super irritated, even after following care instructions per the paperwork. I called and asked if what was going on was normal and couldn’t get a straight yes or no and he told me send him a text and he will refer me to someone where I live. Instead, I ended up going to a shop by my house and they told me not only was it the wrong type of jewelry (curved barbell with a ball on the end) it was also slightly crooked and I was pierced with a 16g, but had 18g jewelry in. I’m super bummed out because I really liked my experience and everyone was super cool, but now I had to pay to get it switched mid healing process, otherwise it would have healed all the way into my lip and had to be cut out. I have been wanting to go to a Taylor Swift flash tattoo event since seeing them happen in other cities she’s been in and I searched on Facebook for one in KC and I am so glad I did! The staff at Cherry Bomb were amazing and kind! I was first in line Saturday and from paperwork, to shave, stencil, placement, tattoo and bandage it took 3.5 Taylor songs! I was so impressed with their efficiency and professionalism! Talking with Wendy who did my tattoo I learned that she is also from Oklahoma and she’s been tattooing for 36 years and how effortlessly she tattooed me I could tell she has crafted her art! My husband who watched was so impressed by how she was tattooing and her tattoo gun! I am absolutely in love with the design they created, and how they allowed you to remove elements from the design if possible, that is was absolutely painless, and that they are keeping the flash sheets and prices available for people to get! I hope they all get some well deserved rest after tattooing 208 swifties in 3 days!! I will be returning for another flash when I’m back in KC!
