They're great when you're looking for a movie, game or CD/LP you can't find anywhere else. However, their prices are a bit steep at times and it might behoove you to check around online before committing to their price hikes. Having said that, they're a great place to find older games and older game systems - if you're a collector like me, they have some good prices on systems like the GameCube and Dreamcast. They have a good selection for games from the N64 and PS2 (don't be surprised if some of them are quite pricey because of their relative scarcity and demand). So far as I know, they're only selling the Switch in bundles right now. Also, their collection of movies and especially series' DVDs/Blu-ray are great and they have a surprisingly robust (if still relatively small) section of anime. They also have posters, Magic the Gathering and Pokemon cards as well as other ancillary goodies (like wallets, purses, keychains, candy etc.) but always keep in mind the respective markup. Still, it's always nice to have a place you can find these things without having to trek out to the closest mall (Independence) or scour online to find such things. The people there are friendly and helpful - if you're looking for something in particular, they can look it up in their computer and if it's not in store, they can see about ordering it in for you.
And if you're feeling frisky, I recommend the Puchao Ramune candy at the counter - your mouth...
Read moreMy low rating is specifically based on the selling your stuff aspect. A couple months ago I brought a ps2 slim and 1 controller to Vintage Stock. A young lady there tested it and it was in good condition. She gave me $34 which I thought was good, I wasn't expecting more than $50. About a week ago I brought another ps2 slim same condition, an Xbox 360 8 games, a games of thrones 6 season box set, a ps2 controller and one random movie. This time it was a young guy, this same guy paid me $2 for like 14 games I brought him a few months before my first experience. So first he doesn't want the Xbox 360 because it's from 2005 and is too old.. yet they take old consoles like ps2 and others.. then he rings up all the stuff I listed before, pays me $13 and some change. How did I get less than I did from the first ps2 and 1 controller? It's because they have to rank things from low to good condition and I know that every time I go in he rates every as low as possible so he doesn't have to pay me barely anything. Everything was in perfect condition I make sure of that because I know what they look for. I got a weird vibe from him, just ask one of the girls to help you if you're selling. Other than that, awesome place, a lot of...
Read moreCool place, good selection of stuff and staff is usually pretty friendly. I come here to get Pokémon cards and games sometimes, and have had some pretty nice conversations with the people there. Organized, not very difficult to find what you need. However, I do still have a couple of problems with this place: #1: Don't sell your things here, you're better off going to a real collector. Chains like vintage stock and gamestop are gonna lowball you so that they can make a profit. Came in once with 500~ Pokémon cards and some DS/3DS games and was offered 15 bucks for all of it.
#2: Sealed packages and cased cards are fine, but buying those big $10 stacks of Pokémon cards are a no-go. They're weird about checking the quality - I've gotten several cards from them that are torn, written on, or badly damaged in some way.
EDIT: I haven't been there in a while, but from what I've heard, some of these places have actually started labeling their bricks of cards. As in, amount of holographic cards, unlimited cards, etc. Which is nice, and a large improvement since the bricks I used to buy would be, like, 90% energy cards. The quality, I still can't really speak on yet. If I end up buying any more, I'll...
