I have lived just down the road from Misty meadows for most of my life and I think overall it is a wonderful shop to buy local herbs and handmade artwork. However, I do question the staff and their knowledge of human psychology and biology. When I visited there was a woman complaining of physical problems and was asking one of the staff members for advice. She mentioned some astrological mythology and said it could be the moon phase, etc etc. What scares me about this is that the staff member did not even suggest going to a doctor, and instead took the side of business to keep customers asking for advice (and therefore buying more things). I have no problem with people practicing astrology or witchcraft or anything of the sort, but if you notice something off with your body, DO NOT ask an herb farmer/astrologist, go to a doctor! These people should not be giving medical advice!
Edit: thanks so much for your response, and I think it is a great representation of your business that you provided more information. I feel as though it is my responsibility to provide some guidance as some people choose naturopath over going to a doctor and this can be harmful. I have people in my life that have ignored medical problems and they have progressed in a bad way because they chose naturo over western medicine. I'd hate to have your business come under fire for providing medical advice. Of course you have the best intentions and what you guys have going is amazing, I just worry for people that might not make the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the unfortunate pleasure of catering two separate events at this establishment. The first one, they attempted to not pay me for (Wendy offered $200 when they owed me over $2000).
The second, Wendy and Valerie were so incredibly rude to my staff. They lied to us about electricity onsite. They wouldn't allow us to use a generator, and they had us plugged in with the DJ, causing everything to trip. They blamed my staff and treated them like garbage. My seasoned employees mentioned never being treated so awfully. It was clear that they were "the help" and Wendy and Valerie made it a point to make them feel that way. I can't imagine treating anyone like that, much less other service industry professionals. I would not recommend hosting or attending any events at this property. My staff and I will surely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy first time visiting Misty Meadows for an āHerbal Medicine for Beginnersā class. Even though it was cold and snowy outside, the classroom was warm, cozy and very welcoming!
Jessica Daigle was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject - her excitement and enthusiasm for herbalism was contagious!!
The class was offered in person and online via Zoom. We all received a packet of information to take home (also emailed to us) along with some herbal samples that we discussed and learned from during the class.
It was a lot of information packed into a 2 hour class but I left feeling excited about what I learned and inspired to...
