Other reviews and flattering pictures raised our expectations too high for this location.
We had a 3pm 'tour' scheduled. We walked in at 2:55, identified ourselves as we had just been on the phone with them an hour prior, and started looking around the little shop and talking to the two women that worked there.
Come 3:05 we asked how the tour worked and were told we just missed it? But one of the women said she would run through it for is.
There are a dozen barrels on their back porch for fermenting the fruit. There is a Still barrel in the corner of their shop for distilling it, and there is a shed on the side of the porch where the barrels are stored for the next several months while they finish aging.
That's it, that's the tour. It all felt a little unsanitary but bacteria can't grow in the alcohol at least.
The taste testing was okay. One woman would fill up those tiny 'shot cups' about halfway so you got a decent taste. The other would stop as soon as there was liquid in the cup so the alcohol taste overpowered the flavor.
All the reviews raved about the pies so we pre ordered a chicken pot pie and a soprano. We had requested to eat there after the tour when we made the reservation, but there was a misunderstanding and the pies were not ready to eat at that time.
They went and got them from somewhere else once we got there, and they were between room temp and slightly warm, so we are not sure how long they were sitting out on a counter somewhere.
We took the pies home and heated them up. There were no reheating instructions so we guessed. The soprano tasted like a pizza with tomatoes in it. It had cheese instead of crust, and overall it tasted good.
The chicken pot pie was okay. It tasted heavily of peas, and the crust was very bland. I had to remove the rim of crust, stir up the rest and add a lot of pepper, and it turned out okay. Not the best I've had, but it's better than the frozen store...
Read moreOne of those rare finds. Actually a lot more than advertised. These folks are Organic farmers, well known for Blueberries and other stuff. The Tomato's were some of the reddest I've ever seen (and tasted as good as they looked). They also make good use of extra fruit by producing Home Made Pies. Try the ABC pie......yummmmm!
Now for the serious stuff.....THEIR SHINE!
Made from Blueberries and cane sugar this 100 proof is as smooth as it gets. They make many flavored shines that at 80 proof and easily drunk straight......that's how very smooth they are.
While there, look around at all the special treats and goodies they offer.
HINT.......you might want to do your purchasing before attending the sample table.
Keep up the GREAT...
Read moreIf you want great moonshine, and EXCELLENT customer service & hospitality - check out Yalaha Bootlegging Company! Seriously, from the time we arrived to the time we left, we'd met Ronnie, John, Sandy (who makes AMAZING homemade pies & all the pottery they sell), and another sweet woman whose name escapes me (she was there on Satuday morning 11-10-19)! There is also an all-organic blueberry farm that they get their blueberries from. We tasted the moonshine (my favorites were between the Blueberry Flavored Moonshine and the Southern Pecan Moonshine) and got to look around the store, before leaving with two delicious chicken pot pies and a piece of pottery. Will definitely stop by again next time we are passing...
