DO NOT GO HERE FOR WELDING. JUST GET AN ENTRY LEVEL WELDING JOB AND GO FROM THERE. GOING HERE WILL NOT GET YOU THE JOB, OR EXPERIENCE. TRUST ME.
Dennis (The hiring manager) hired a man who got high on flu medicine, Still came in to teach, told us a story about how he beat up a seventeen year old in the back of a moving truck for quote "being mouthy", then never came back again.
I have told this to plenty of people, including Dennis. Dennis was even telling us the instructor was coming back at one point, two weeks after not seeing them. He in fact did not come back after seeing how poorly the class was being run.
Im putting this here because I have told mutiple people and nothing has happened.
The man named Dennis, who runs this campus, is an absolute fool. He takes out his anger on the students whenever he gets frustrated for being called out on his teaching capabilities. He was supposed to hire a welding instructor, but instead tried teaching the class himself the entire year. All he did was tell stories about his life, like how he rides dirt bikes and used to work all these old construction jobs, but couldn't show any of that knowledge. He doesn't answer questions, but instead "answers questions, with more questions." When asked if he could just be upfront instead, he simply kept doing for MONTHS, making learning confusing and frustrating. He knows nothing about welding, but tries to make it seem like he's been doing it for years. The only thing he did while he was there, was watch us like children. If we had questions on how to turn on a machine, or anything other than "where was the bathroom" he would straight up say "I don't know, ask another classmate". He made at least 5 different group chats with all of us in it because he has no idea how to work a phone, let alone a computer. He would get mad if you didn't respond to one of the five group chats in a lively manner, but would never respond himself to that said group chat. The other students and I ended up making our own group chat without him so we could actually keep up with info and repeatedly comment on how Dennis had no idea what he was doing. My classmates and I asked about if were going to be getting help looking for welding careers, but all we were given were false promises. The best I got was a text from my instructor, which was a picture of a bunch of random companies written on a white-board. The picture was taken from years prior, and not updated at all. He said so himself.
He brought in a CWI who rather than helping us his first day of coming in, just showed off his car, then left. I cannot make this up. I have reached out to multiple sources trying to get something changed, but no one cares. Butler Tech likes to seem helpful in any way they can, but when you ask for help. They act like they forgot and simply respond with "were all human, we forget things" and doesn't even attempt to fix it after being reminded. I had to tell one of the people who work there FIVE TIMES that I did not do a mural around Hamilton. No one here will listen to you, or give you helpful advice whatsoever. You'll have to share all of your equipment with these annoying High Schoolers who are doing the exact same program as you, but for free. So they give zero f** about the equipment you rely on.
Don't let these automated messages in these reviews fool you. They already messaged back about calling to leave my review on the place, but I know for a fact theyre not gonna sit there and listen to everything wrong with THEIR program. Even if they do, nothing will change, Dennis will still be making horrible decisions, and they'll still be conning people who actually want to learn welding out of their money.
I'm going to be doing everything in my power to make sure no one wastes their time in this program.
To the person reading this @Butler Tech, you know who I am and have my number. If you want to discuss this further I'm more than happy to. I'm not wasting my time trying to get into contact with...
Read moreI went here for a 1 year program and it ended up being 2 years because the teacher kept showing up hours late and then just quit coming in completely. The teacher I got after waiting for the whole next year basically just threw a book at us and told us to learn it. They got this giant garage and all we ever did was look at that book, all the equipment and stuff was practically just for show, we touched it maybe a dozen times, probably less.
I'm working with a bunch of unschooled apprentices now and they have already learned what I did in half the time and while getting paid. This class costs ten thousand dollars. Run away from these cons and just do an apprenticeship for someone instead.
Responding to Butler Tech's reply: Your staff are NOT highly qualified. When people fall behind, you don't help them catch up, you just help them cheat the tests by literally giving them the answers (That's the REAL reason why almost everyone graduates. Gotta make yourselves look good, right?) Some of them literally don't even know about the field they are teaching. You had Dennis teaching a welding class and he literally is not a welder nor does he know anything about it. You've had multiple teachers just QUIT SHOWING entirely. Lying through your teeth with corporate, copy-paste responses just makes...
Read moreOne of the worst welding schools around. Im currently taking their night classes and we donât even have an actual welding instructor to teach us, yet we still have to deal with the program. Everything in the shop is constantly broken to the point they donât have ways to even cut metal out to do projects. They bring up how youâll be doing cool stuff such as SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, ect. yet we havenât touched anything but a 7018 rod and stick welded for the past 6 months. Everyone is at different levels and there is no such thing as consistency when it comes to this class. Almost 15k a person to start classes, yet almost EVERY single C-clamp is broken, all the stingers are loose and barely hold rods, the highschool kids donât care about anything and break everything because they donât pay for anything, and even the person who helps with grants doesnât keep his promises. Iâve had people tell me I owe zero dollars towards my account, then a week later got an email about owing 6k to the school. This place is a joke of a welding school, and I recommend just buying a cheap 200 dollar welding machine and teaching yourself. Thatâs exactly what youâll...
