I get how a store like this could stay open in a small town as technically it's the only real grocery store but this place needs shut down. We just recently moved to town and will drive to Richmond or Highinsville instead of coming here. As far as quick thing we need to grab, thank goodness for Family Dollar, Dollar General and the gas stations. The first thing I noticed about this store was the old sewage smell as you walk in. Then there's the fact that probably 75% of their frozen section is freezer burnt. Bought a sealed can of Folgers, made it at home a couple times , kept thinking taste was off or machine must be dirty, nope, even other people have confirmed the coffee is rank. Seems like with a little effort it could be cleaned up and be a decent store but apparently nobody is willing to put in that...
Read moreWe live 9 miles away from Lexington, but Brothers' had a couple of good buys, so we made the trip. If I downloaded an app, I could get a 15-ounce package of Oreos for 99 cents, so I got the app. When I was there, there were none on the shelf; when I checked out I told the lady they were apparently out of them and she said, "Oh, really?" instead of having someone see if there were more someplace. Chicken breast was a good buy, but it was all floating in its own bloody juice... they should have put the chicken breasts someplace where they would have stayed frozen. Also, the counter where the chicken was had a faint smell of rotten meat. My husband, an ex-butcher, always thought they had a good meat counter with the previous owners. Not now. I won't be giving them...
