Outstanding stop on historic US 11 just a few miles south of Lexington. I don't usually start with a restroom review...but Layne's really has a "restroom" you won't want to leave. Please when you go to Layne's try the restroom, it will exceed your expectations. Hoop Cheese (a specialty of Layne's since 1954) is amazing..when they offer you a sample TAKE IT! They have it all here, food, whole hams, complete deli, syrups, jams, home-made jelly, BBQ Sauces, beer, specialty wines, Moon Shine (the real hard stuff). Take it from me if you miss Layne's..then you've missed one of the highlights of your life. Ask to see Besty (better known as Sweet cream đź’—đź’—) she's worth the trip. The real story behind this lovely respite is is that it was all made possible "because two people fell in love"

Ok so You are headed South on Hwy 81 and You are REALLY HUNGRY for some Fresh Local food. Get off exit 180b and turn north on hwy 11 (Lee Hwy) for 2 miles. You come to this really GREAT country store and deli. REAL Virginia ham sandwiches, real Amish jellies, jams, preserves, and pickled EVERYTHING( veggies, fruits, eggs!!!). A real old time type country store. Sells cutlery too. And even Spirits (Moonshine). Your hunger will be gone your attitude for the good old days will be alive.

My family & I stopped by on our day trip through Virginia. The drive there is so scenic. I bet the views are incredible in the Fall. I especially enjoyed the hoop cheese. They have all sorts of candies, treats, jams, jellies, peanut butter fluff, pecan logs, moonshine & pocket knives. I expected more fresh produce out front. They were very friendly and it really is located in a beautiful place.

We had some free time after seeing the sites and I wanted to go here so badly. I had a brochure from the rest area and couldn’t wait to see what their store had to offer. When we pulled up there was the cutest little fairy garden set up outside with the kindest elderly gentleman sitting in a rocking chair outside who gave a smile and a hello. I was already in love with the charm of the place. We went in and I knew we needed a basket. The smiling, friendly lady inside showed me where to find one and told me there were carts outside too. Welp-I ended up needing one of those instead! There is so much to choose from! Everything looked amazing. Yummy looking jams, jelly, syrups, sauces, honey, candy and so much more! We ended up with several of the jams, some hot sauce, candy, syrup, honey, pickles and a few other treats. We couldn’t wait to get home and try it! We got some gifts for Christmas too while we were there. Well-we got home and immediately unpacked our box (yes-that’s right I said a box) of goodies. We got out some spoons and had a little taste test extravaganza. Everything was amazing! Well, except the pickles. Those were not good at all. But that’s one small jar in the huge box of stuff we got. We are very happy knowing that they ship also! This is gonna come in handy when we run out of the banana jam and pumpkin butter. Omg. It is so good!! The father and daughter working were awesome too! So friendly and helpful. When people talk about small town hospitality, these 2 folks are what they are talking about. We were so happy that we stopped in here and will be sure to make it a regular stop any time we are in this area. Take the time to stop in and see what they...

Couldn’t have had a better experience at Layne’s Country Store. The owners—a kind, attentive husband and wife team—truly went above and beyond. Not only were they warm and welcoming, but they also shared local history, hidden gems, and great recommendations for things to do in the area.

The meats were top-notch, the whiskey and shine were excellent, and the store has that increasingly rare, authentic country charm that’s simply unmatched. It’s the kind of place that feels like a step back in time—in the best way.

Whether you’re stopping in for homemade jellies and jams, fresh produce, deli meats, or a sweet treat for the kids, Layne’s is an absolute must....
