Every single part of our experience at Helmer Castle was exceptional, from the first warm greeting to the final candlelit moment.

The flavor profile of each course was rich, refined, and beautifully balanced. We loved hearing how the menu was thoughtfully curated and prepared. Every dish felt purposeful. The presentation was stunning, from the plating to the tablescape. Everything looked and felt like a dream.

One of our favorite parts was spending time with the owners, Mike and Joy. Their kindness, warmth, and grounded energy made the whole evening feel incredibly personal. Talking with them felt like time with old friends who just happen to have built a literal castle. There is a quiet magic in how they have poured themselves into this space, and it shows in every corner.

The castle tour was incredible. We got to hear the history of the grounds, learn about the restoration work, and see the treasures they have thrifted and found over time. It was the little things that really stayed with us. The stamped toilet paper. The soft classical music playing in the background. The warm glow of candles and lighting. Every detail added to the authenticity and charm of the space.

This was more than a dinner. It was a story, an experience, a memory we will carry for a long time.

We just celebrated our nineteenth wedding at The Helmer Castle. It will become a long and happy memory. Starting with Joy greeting us after the drive up secluding The Castle and grounds. Her tour of the outside and grounds led to our entrance into a historic and unique dining room with a magnificently appointed table. Mike prepared a global class meal. I can honestly state there is not a chef in the area that could of done better. The meal was as we had ordered but so perfectly executed and presented. The subtle wrap on the baked brie, the seasoned croutons on the French onion soup, the perfectly cooked asparagus, a fantastic sauce on the mushrooms which complemented a perfectly cooked and presented Tomahawk steak. After dinner Mike gave us a fascinating tour of the Castle and there intended restorations. The ending of the evening was with two baked Alaska's which were perfect. Every point shaped, firm, and equally toasted with a fabulous Strawbery and Michigan cheery filling, absolutely fabulous. This is an experience not just a historic site or restaurant. I cannot recommend this experience enough. Hope you will try this...

They welcomed our entire family and friends with open arms, offering castle tours that left everyone in awe and memories we’ll talk about for years to come.

We left that day inspired—not just by the romance of the setting, but by the lives Joy and Mike lead. We truly aspire to live with the same grace, warmth, and generosity they embody.
