What a fun place to visit! With or without kids!
They have a ton of animals to feed and pet. Alpacas, goats, rabbits, geese, bulls, mules, emu, etc. They also provide free grain and buckets for you to feed the critters. Be sure to wear boots as you may step in mud or a pile of poo. They have comfortable seating as well. It's very nicely maintained. It's really cool that this costs nothing. You can pay a bit to buy a bucket of some mixed produce to feed the critters, but you don't have to. You can also bring your own feed. Yesterday we brought some cucumbers, head lettuce, and carrots that were a bit past prime, and the animals loved it. (watch your fingers, the donkey was very enthusiastic about the cucumber!). They have a nice flower garden and a very cool swing you can chill at.
The shop is excellent with a lot of farm type trinkets, gifts, and clothing. A lot of it is alpaca based gifts.
Considering everything above, our favorite thing at Lowry's is their baked treats and coffee. They have the best baked treats I've ever had in my life, anywhere. A large variety too. I am not kidding when I say it's so good that just writing about it right now, envisioning the table of pastries and cookies, my mouth starts to water (don't judge me!). We've tried the lemon bread, blueberry bread, blueberry scones, cinnamon rolls, peanut butter cookies, monster cookies, no bake, Rice Krispy Treats, and sugar cookies, and more, and it's all been incredible and indulgent (not at one time.. We have SOME self control).
The baked goods are admittedly pricey, but it's worth it knowing the time and effort the owner puts into her craft. It's worth paying a few dollars for these treats, because they're exceptional, time consuming to make, delicious, and support a small business and family.
We're going to keep visiting every weekend, if you're in the area, you have to check...
Read moreThe farm is great, but let me tell you about the food. The pecan chocolate chip cookies blew my mind and I do not like cookies. The almond pastry was holy moly ridiculously good...we fought over it. The oreo bake according to my son was "I can't explain it" as he closed his eyes and remembered the explosion of goodness. Had a fruity pebble style rice crispy bar that we did a disappearing trick on. The blueberry scone was the absolute show stopper for me, it was sweet, but not too sweet, absolute perfection. Had an orange cupcake that was like eating a orange dreamsicle and so light. Add in the blueberry muffin the next day and you had 4 happy campers. I can't...
Read moreAbsolutely love this farm!! Its so cute, they have SO many animals that you can actually feed and pet up close! Also, a nice little store full of alpaca gear, decorations, and best of all, the most amazing baked goods you'll find anywhere. Tawny is one million percent the greatest baker I've met and an absolute angel. ❤️ I have tried a lot of different baked goods and I promise you, not one of them disappointed me. My family (especially my 4 year old) and I love to come visit every weekend we can. And we live about 40 min away! Totally worth it! They make you feel like family and we always feel so comfortable here. Make the drive out here yall. It's absolutely...
