Hay trailer buyers beware!
If you are considering buying a Go Bob Hay trailer, and will be pulling it with a flatbed truck, you will probably need to replace your gooseneck ball with an extended shank ball. This is information that the salesman did not mention to me in several emails and phone calls before the sale or at the time of purchase. I found this out only after I pulled it home, two and half hours away, and tried to use it.
When I called, the salesmen’s response was “There’s a sticker on the trailer letting you know you need an extended ball” and “you should have tried it before you left. There’s nothing wrong with the trailer you just need to replace your ball”. Since I was buying a new trailer from the dealer I assumed it would work as advertised and as all others I have ever used and saw no need to try it before leaving.
Our operation has three flatbed trucks that will need to be retrofitted. All have factory beds with balls that are not only put on with a nut that is very hard to access but also welded to the bed. This is an issue that Go Bob has no concern with.
When I ask to speak to the owner I was told he works form home and cannot be contacted. I then ask about the Sales Manager and was told he was at a trade show and I should not expect a return call for five days. I still haven’t received one and it’s been two months now.
I would like to add that the trailer appears to be well made, which is the reason I drove past two other trailer manufacture/dealers to pay more for a Go Bob trailer. I just wish I had known what extra cost and headache was involved in being able to use my new trailer.
Hope this helps…
I would like to respond to Bob's reply.
I am a long way from a "FIRST TIME TRAILER BUYER". I have owned and pulled many different brands of inline hay trailers over the years, May, Heavybuilt, Pride of the Prairie and Hay Liner to name a few, with many different flat bed trucks without a single issue. All have operated as expected. Your trailer is the only one I have ever had ANY issues with.
All of my trucks have "factory" flatbeds. They were produced at the manufactures "factory" facility, i.e. J&I, CM or C5 Manufacturing, and installed by a factory authorized installer. All are equipped with a 30,000 lb rated ball. For you to suggest they use cheap inferior gooseneck balls is quite a bold statement. Both Curt and B&W offer standard height balls with 30K rating. I'm sure if you gave them a call they'd be glad to help you out.
Although you find it necessary to question my knowledge and experience of trailers, trucks, flatbeds and gooseneck balls and to directly suggest flatbed manufactories use inadequate parts in there manufacturing in an attempt to justify your trailer not dumping. My original statement is still just as valid.
If you are considering buying a Go Bob Hay trailer, and will be pulling it with a flatbed truck, you will probably need to replace your gooseneck ball.

After less than moderate use the welds have now began to crack at structurally important joints. And, it appears used pipe was used in the construction of the trailer. Pictures show a large amount of oil residue coming out of the crack at the end cap on the main pipe running the length of...
Read moreI'm building a large set of pens and ordered over a truck load of steel. One major piece of the order was 325 pcs of grade 1 used 2 7/8 inch pipe cut in 10' sections.. It was to be torch cut one end, the other was smooth cut. I was in the area and picked up a cattle guard and they threw 6 pcs of the pipe on my trailer. I unloaded them when I got home and forgot them. About a month later the truck arrived. The pipe was torch cut both ends. I called, my salesman said, that's what the site says. I checked and sure enough it did....but still I knew that was not the deal when I bought. I was pretty sure they had changed the website, but I could not prove it. The pipe was everything Bob warns about on used pipe...pitted badly, full of bad worn spots. Oh well, I'm stuck with what I got. Then, lo and behold, I found the sticks I brought back...and wow....clean pipe...torch cut one end, saw cut on the other....THAT was what I ordered. I called Bob, told him my plight, offered to bring it back and exchange. He talked like he was going to at least offer SOMETHING....after the first couple of exchanges of pics, he quit returning my calls and emails.
They get two stars because the quality is what they tell you it is (most of the time) and prices are good. However, regardless of how Bob wants to spin it customer service is VERY schetchy. I own retail stores....service is first, products are obviously of high quality. As another reviewer says.....buyer beware.....
Really Bob....your reply is simply untrue. EVERY TRICK IN THE BOOK? I'm not trying to take advantage of anybody. You and I had several conversations....I explained my situation, you were gonna look into it, and then you quit answering texts. Why would you not call me and tell me why? Yes I signed for it.....Yes it was shipped on time, a month was not late. Yes I asked to not ship as we were doing dirt work and rain got in the way. But sir.....I did not get what I ordered. I would not have come back to you, had I not seen the six pcs I brought back on my trailer with the cattleguard. Those pcs and the shipment are two different quality of pipe.
Fella from California....just unsubscribe from his emails. And he is right, you have to ask to get on them in the...
Read moreStory time, I build alot of fence and hang alot of gates I have a gobob 10 minutes from me located in mounds, wheelers is about an hour from me in Muskogee, I had bought a 14 ft prefabricated gate from wheelers but needed a 16 ft, both companies buy materials from a place in Dewey, Oklahoma, so I figured the gates were the same, so I called gobob seeing if I could exchange the 14ft to them and pay the difference for the 16ft, I figured they were the same anyways but was told, with an attitude, "no, wheelers is my top competitor and I won't take anything of theirs", but come to find out gobobs gates are actually much poorer quality, made with smaller material and more expensive, needless to say I spend hundreds of thousands a year, I won't be...
