I recently had the pleasure of working with Dave’s Camera Repair, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience.
What truly sets Dave apart is his extensive expertise in the field. Having repaired cameras and lenses for NASA and Hasselblad, he possesses a rare and specialized skill set that few can match. It’s clear that he has a deep understanding of the intricacies of camera mechanics, and he approaches each repair with meticulous attention to detail.
Additionally, Dave has an impressive inventory of hard-to-find parts. This capability is invaluable, as it allows him to tackle repairs that many other technicians might find daunting due to the unavailability of components. His resourcefulness means that even older or rare models can be serviced with care and precision.
In my case I had a bent focus shaft on my Mamiya RZ67 II. This is a common problem and these shafts are impossible to find. I called every Mamiya repair shop and no one had them. A bent focus shaft puts a lot of wear and tear on the gears. The camera came back super clean. He was able to bend the shaft back into shape, adjusted the bushings, and checked all the functions. The focus is much smoother now. He also packaged the camera very carefully.
In a world where skilled camera repair professionals are becoming increasingly rare, Dave Easterwood stands out as a true master of his craft. If you’re in need of camera repairs, I wholeheartedly recommend his services. You won’t find a more knowledgeable or dedicated technician...
Read moreI’ve now had two of my older SLR cameras serviced by Dave, the first back in 2003, and most recently in 2019. I was very happy to see he is still servicing and repairing vintage film cameras as it’s practically impossible to find shops that will even touch them these days.
As such, Dave’s skills and knowledge are incredibly rare, highly in-demand, and very valuable to film photography enthusiasts across the world. I was fully prepared to pay a high price tag, and wait a long time for him to fix my camera...neither of those turned out to be true.
Not only was the price for my repairs reasonable, Dave only had my camera for about 3 weeks before I was able to pick it up. Not only did he perform the repairs I requested, he also replaced and calibrated several parts that improved the camera aesthetically and mechanically at no extra charge.
Dave is a true craftsman in every sense of the word when it comes to vintage and analog camera repairs. I couldn’t be happier with the work he did and hope to give him more of my business for many more...
Read moreAWFUL!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAMERA TO THIS MAN! I dropped my camera off the middle of January, and did not get it back until April and the one he returned to me was NOT EVEN the one I gave him. I was so tired of the "parts not here", "still waiting", "I'll call you", and lastly he said it was taken apart and he was working on it. then the next day he didn't get it finished and needed more time. Seriously? 4 months? He knew I had a web business as well and relied on this as a handicapped person. VERY dishonest. JUST OWN UP and say I cannot fix it. Don 't lie and hem and haw for 4 months. I swear the reviews on here must be from his friends and family. BAD BAD...
