I am ashamed and appalled to be called an Apollo Alumni. I graduated in 2001. Back then Apollo was a privilege and Mr. Earl did not put up with any kind of riffraff from students or teachers. Unfortunately, those were different times when integrity, and morals were still a thing. Parents do not send your kids. I regret talking my neice into going to Apollo. She had no problems until her senior year dealing with a certain math teacher, she has no issues with any of her other teachers. It will be a waste of your time to speak with the principle because he allows the teacher to interrupt and over talk you, allows the teacher to call your child a liar, even when you have proof of incidents, if other students are witnesses to an incident between a teacher and a student the principle will tell he doesn't care what other students have to say, and if a student tells a teacher to stop harassing another student the principle will flat out tell that no student should be talking to the teacher like that. So, basically teachers are allowed to treat and speak to you child however they please and the principle who is supposed to have your child's best interest and safety at heart does not. I had names of students, other teachers, and dates of when stuff was said/happened, when I brought them up the principle shot me down. When I told them that my niece is no longer interested in going to college because of the treatment of this teacher the principle and guidance counselor had nothing to say. The teacher had the audacity to mention how cosmetology isn't a bad career his wife does it!!!!!! And the principle and the guidance counselor DID NOT have anything to say!!!!!! Some parents want better for their children, for their children to have more in their life. The guidance counselors (or at least this one) does not stand up for the kids like they are supposed to. I requested to see to see if my niece was lying about the teacher harassing her in the hallway. The principle told me no I gave him my attorneys number he told me to have my attorney contact the schools attorney. So, as soon I pulled out of their parking lot I did call my attorney and told him everything. Even though I'm sure the principle made sure that got erased so there's no evidence of it. If your child has problem with a teacher make sure your child only speaks with that teacher with another teacher around or have the teacher contact your attorney to set up a time to speak with your child. Otherwise the principle with only believe what the teacher has to say and will not listen to...
Read moreI literally had six different instructors for my five month adult learning class. The previous teacher never really communicated well with the next class instructor, you could tell. And yes, you read that correctly, we had six different instructors for our one class. We even had one of our class days was cancelled because they didn't have ANY instructors available to teach us which put us a day behind. During the end of the semester we were told that the final exam would be on a Thursday. When we arrived on a Tuesday for class, TWO DAYS before the scheduled cumulative final and were supposed to be in lab that day according to the syllabus, we were told that we were going to have the final exam that morning. THAT. MORNING. No warning and hardly any preparation. We were shocked! Did they want us to all fail without any preparation for the final??!! In my adult class only one person passed the final exam since we took it two days early with no preparation. You could tell that the classes were put together each week at the last minute and from the outside it just looked disorganized. The teachers spoke when "pay day" was in front of the class, which I thought was extremely unprofessional. Instructions on what we were to do for the final exam and our national test were EXTREMELY VAGUE and people had no idea what we should or shouldn't do if we passed or not. We were all told to COMMUNICATE COMMUNICATE COMMUNICATE with them at the start of the class. Well we did but they were very lazy on returning our texts and emails. Very disappointing as a student. I'm still trying to figure out if, overall, they wanted us to pass this class or just fail us cumulatively. Really it was that bad and that frustrating as a student.
Overall, given the experience I had with this five month adult class I would give it a letter grade of a "C-/D+".
It was a very disappointing experience for your Adult program Apollo and to make matters worse I'm on the advisory board for a different program there. Not kidding. Contact me directly for any other feedback Apollo. This same information was shared with you with a previous experience I had there before Covid-19 and I have still heard nothing in return. So much for the communication piece we were told when our...
Read moredon’t get me wrong; i already hate the american public school system, but Apollo has only intensified that hate tenfold. the staff is rude and corrupt, the food that i’ve seen (even though i barely ever ate there) is disgusting; and even if it is edible, they’ll give you a toddler’s portion. i’m sure some of the instructors are terrific, however mine was terrible with communication and extremely unprofessional. he was one of the main reasons i dreaded going to Apollo everyday. another thing, it should not take 15-20 minutes to get out of the parking lot. it was not like this my first year. the staff directs traffic now and essentially causes a traffic jam in the lot because they are so terrible at it.
now that i’m done complaining, here are some honorable mentions for some excellent people I met at Apollo who actually do their job right: Mrs. Roll, Ms. Hodosko, Mrs. Gronas, Ms. Flick (miss u girl, but i don’t blame u for leaving). that list is kind of pathetic because i really thought i had encountered more than just 4 decent staff members...
