%100 do NOT recommend ever using Northern Lanes for birthday parties or any other events in general. Our experience was not great. My Husband told them he wasn't sure how many guests would be attending the party but to expect 10. Upon arriving it was obvious that there was no heat on in the building, and there was a table set for 6. We knew there was a set amount of food and drinks and desserts and anything outside of that would be an extra cost ( common sense). So people start arriving and there are 2 pitches of pop so guests start getting extra cups, (again we figured once the pitchers were empty we would just buy more). A child's friend had brought a couple of siblings and at one point I see that the siblings don't have any cups to drink out of, so i went up to the front desk and asked for more cups. The guy behind the counter was very short with me and proceeded to tell me that those pitchers of pop are intended for the 6 party guests and "once they are gone they are gone" then he turned and walked off before I could say anything. He comes back from bar side of the building with three wet cups and says "here is this going to be enough!?" Still being very short and rude. I commented that if pitchers of pop ran out we would just buy more, he said that was "okay", as if I was asking? š I walked back and started talking to my husband about the interaction at that point the kitchen had sent pizzas out. As my husband was telling the server where the pizzas could go (because he was asked) here comes this guy from the front desk, still on this pop thing. I told him I would never have another one of my kids birthdays at Northern lanes, and also mentioned that I would rather buy extra pitchers of pop and pizza before I would ever tell a kid they can't have a 50 cent glass of pop because their sister was invited to a party and they weren't. This guys did apologize and take the extra food and pop and bowling time off of our bill which was nice, but not necessary. We had fully intended to pay extra so the party would be fun for everyone, instead a person behind the front desk with a bad attitude and bad manners decided to try micromanaging how much I should spend on a party I scheduled instead of building a ticket. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI bowl on the league there. From strictly a bowling stand point, everything is good. Lanes are all good, bowling is good. The service there is what falls woefully short, at least on the bowling alley side. They always seem to be short handed, and even when they do have two servers working the floor, they still are slow. My guess is that management chooses to run on a skeleton crew all the time or something. The other bowling alley across town in Midland has two girls working the floor there too, but their service is great even on league nights! A few of the employees at Northern could use a lesson or two on what good customer service is. Smile once in while, look the customer in the eyes when they approach. In short, be approachable!! It often seems like a few of them donāt like their job and donāt want to be there and that customers are an annoyance to them. If you donāt like your job, find a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe love Northern Lanes! It's not exactly centrally located in Midland but it's worth the drive. Located just outside of town but easily accessible from every direction. Not only do they have bowling but there's a club attached for dancing, live bands, comedy shows etc. In the summer they host a volleyball league as well. Full bar and a food menu. Great place to host a birthday party or just shake up your routine with a few games of bowling. Price points are very reasonable and there's usually coupons floating around in the summer that let the kids bowl a free game. Best part of Northern Lanes (IMO) is that there's no "arcade room". My son gets distracted easily with the lights and sounds and frankly, I'm already spending money on the...
