After the clubhouse somehow did not have my single reservation (apparently they have issues with golf now), and they wanted me to follow a group of 16, I was graciously allowed to tee off on 10 to avoid the large group going out.
Once started on 10, pace of play was good. I was able to finish, as a walking single, in about 3 1/2 hours.
Overall conditions were poor. Many areas had extensive damage in the middle of the fairway. Some greens were receptive, some were hard with bare spots. Nicely mowed approaches were littered with what looked like divots were actually a proliferation of ant hills. Rough was thick and punishing as it should. Some tee boxes were nice and flat and some were uneven and bumpy. Just about every hole is a dog leg.
Yes this is a tree lined course and if you have trouble hitting it fairly straight, you will lose a lot of balls. But, I agree with others, it is playable for all.
Bugs, bugs, bugs. Flys everywhere along with mosquitos and asian beatles.
I would not have been happy if I paid full rack rate. This course, in my opinion is about $10-15 overpriced.
Knock down the bugs and fix the damage to the course and maybe it would be worth what is currently being charged.
This is not a course I would put into...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really want to love this course as it's close to home and I play in a weekly men's league there. That said, this course is extremely difficult and will not appeal to most mid to high handicappers, especially those who tend to be erratic off the tee. They leave the rough too long in the summer to keep the grass green. There is no intermediate cut of rough at edges of most fairways, so it's a very penal setup. Swamps and trees line most FW; again not conducive to the average or worse golfer. Most greens are surrounded by rough, which is fine but they narrow down the FW before many of the greens so they are only about 20yds wide. If your approach shot is a little short and left or right, instead of possibly bouncing on or into fringe, you're left stuck in 3+" long grass which makes for a difficult chip and opportunity to save par. My wife used to golf in a women's league there. Many. including her, have left to play another course that isn't so penalizing. All of these negatives I listed also contribute to slow play. Make it easier to speed up play (which also means you will be able to squeeze more tee times in - I don't see why course managers and supers can't figure this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis course is rarely in good condition, Itās overpriced for the quality of the course. Hole 17 is a dog-leg hole with woods shortly after the turn, meaning many people go over the fairway and into the woods. I was playing and there was a about a hole gap between my me and my friend, and the group behind us. My friend and I were in no hurry to play so we thought weād look for balls. After less than 10 minutes we had pulled 40 balls and a ranger happened to ride by in a cart. He told us he could see weāve been here a while, because of how many balls we had found. He hastily told me to get out of the āmuckā and get going. He said his job is to make sure everyone has a good time and they wonāt be if Iām here holding everyone up, even though we started to leave when we saw the group behind us get on the tee. He then proceeded to follow us as we finished our round. He sat in his cart going the same speed as us, stopping when we stopped. He watched us from his cart like he was stalking prey. My friend and I quickly became very uncomfortable with him watching us...
