I went to the food truck at Rich Lanes in Fairport Harbor. It was a rainy day, and the turnout was not huge, but the workers were completely overwhelmed; a chaotic mess. I waited about 30 minutes to order, which I expected, but then it took them another 40 minutes to actually serve it up.
There was a big build-up of customers waiting around to be served, who had already ordered. There was an option to pre-order online, but nowhere designated for those customers to skip the line. Those orders were likewise 40+ minutes behind. Whenever the staff handed out a bag of food, the crowd cheered sarcastically. Also, about 50% of the customers had to come back to the window because their orders were incorrect. I saw at least one customer give up and insist on a refund, rather than continue to wait.
I only ordered two lobster rolls (one Maine, one Connecticut). My order was correct and it tasted good, but not a good value ($20.75 each; the roll is the size of a standard hot-dog bun, with the commensurate amount of meat). I was actually served before the family that was in line ahead of me, so they must have eventually waited more than 45 minutes from when they ordered (not including the line to order).
Bottom line, the food was good, the value was not, and the service / long wait...
Read moreHaving just returned from a trip to Bar Harbor and stopping by numerous lobster pounds, I was eager to try Cousins food truck. We ordered the Connecticut Lobster Rolls, Lobster Bisque, and the loaded Lobster Tots - all from the app which was super quick and convenient. The lobster rolls were excellent and right on par with the fresh lobster rolls in Bar Harbor. Pricing wise, they were spot on too. Lobster is expensive but I thought the size and quality of the rolls were very comparable. The Lobster Bisque was a hard pass - very fishy and we took a few spoonfuls and ended up tossing it in the garbage. The lobster tots were just okay. The flavors of salsa mixed with lobster over tator tots really wasn't working for us. The lobster got lost in the topping and it really just tasted like greasy bar food. We will definitely return for more, but will just get the...
Read moreWe heard so much about this food truck and couldn’t wait to try it. It was a major disappointment. We had lobster rolls, the lobster and tots platter, and the lobster tacos in order to sample a good selection. The lobster roll was decent for the first few bites, however, the last piece of lobster meat on the roll tasted like walking on the shores of Lake Erie where dead fish are among the rocks. The lobster platter was a complete disappointment as well. Lobster was totally dried out and overcooked but the tater tots were great. Finally, the lobster tacos were outstanding but do not expect a lot of lobster meat on them. Service was fast and friendly but we will never go again. Sad to say…but Red Lobster is far better if you are craving...
