If I could give less than one star I would. I usually go into this store and am greeted and checked out by friendly staff 99% of the time, however upon going in the last couple times I’ve felt like my business isn’t wanted. There is one old lady with grayish white hair who stands by the door like a security guard acting all rude and impatient while the store is still open. I watched someone leave without groceries after being followed around and rushed by said lady. I got told immediately after walking through the door that they close in 9 minutes. I said ok (that is understandable, I only needed a couple things though and knew what I was after so I started rushing to make sure I wasn’t keeping anyone and being rude, I hate going into places last minute unless I have too) Even after rushing, I too was followed around and asked “are you about done?” exact words. At that point the closing in five minute intercom went off, meaning I still had time, after all I am a paying customer just needing to get dinner and they were still open. I am very dissatisfied that was treated so crappy just because someone wanted to close the store early. It was only that lady, the checkout person seemed to be in a better mood and no one else gave me trouble or ever has. She was impatient enough that even with two minutes left she made a point to lock the door right after the lady who didn’t get groceries left. On top of that I seemed to noticed many people were upset by her as well. There is no reason someone who works in customer service should be acting like that, many people would lose their jobs for that kind of behavior. It was immature and this isn’t the first time. I’m almost tempted to not go back if it wasn’t the only local grocery store with a good selection. She’s even gone as far as shutting the blinds on me as I picked out a steak, and talking about politics instead of helping customers. Is there a reason that many people deserve a bad shopping experience because someone wakes up with a stick in their butt?. Completely childish, however I will keep going because I’m treated respectfully by...
Read moreFrom the moment you walk in, you can feel the welcoming atmosphere and the pride the staff takes in serving the neighborhood. This store truly carries a little bit of everything; fresh produce, household essentials, pantry staples, and even a great selection of locally sourced items. It’s a one stop shop in the truest sense!
The customer service is consistently warm and helpful. Whether you’re asking about a product, checking out, or just looking for something specific, the staff is attentive and kind.
One of the standouts is the in-store bakery and café, a real treat! The fresh breads, pastries, and coffee make it a perfect stop for a quick bite or a cozy break during errands. The quality and flavor speak for themselves.
The only downside is that there are just two bathrooms shared between employees and customers, which can occasionally mean a short wait but it’s a small issue in the grand scheme of how much this store offers. It’s places like this that bring people together and make everyday life easier, warmer, and...
Read moreGowell's has been around a long time. Originally a hardware store. Which is still there. The shop'n Save is (relatively) new. When I was younger (40+ years ago) I didn't appreciate the convenience of not having to drive all the way into(take your pick) Lewiston, Auburn, Brunswick or TURNER(?) You're going to pay for the convenience. But you're not burning more fuel, spending extra time, or wearing your car out. My Mom wanted Ice cream. At 86 years old, let her have what she wants! We went to Gowell's. She got what she wanted . I made Mamma Happy. I had time with Mom and some ice cream. And instead of taking off sooner for an hour and a half drive home, I spent the time with my family. That, in my book is what makes Gowell's a good establishment to have in the...
