I’ve been a loyal customer at this store for over 15 years and have never had an issue — until now. On a recent visit with a friend, I was shocked and deeply hurt by how I was treated by the manager. He told me that “girls like me” aren’t allowed in the store. I’m a transgender woman.

He went on to say he’d received complaints about me, but when I asked what those complaints were, he refused to explain, saying he’d “rather keep that to himself.” That response felt more like an excuse than a valid reason — I’ve never caused any problems or disrespected anyone in all my years of coming here.

A second manager did allow me into the back area, but only because I had a man with me — which was also upsetting. It left me feeling that I’m not welcome in this space unless I meet someone else’s idea of what’s acceptable.

I would also like to raise a serious concern regarding the lack of privacy at this establishment. On multiple occasions, I have personally witnessed staff members behind the monitors observing and making comments about customers who were using the so-called “private” booths.
