Solid products and great customers service! I have been using Uinta for about a year on windows and really like it. Originally I started using it on a Surface Go 2 where it performed flawlessly. I also beta tested the Uinta android app on a $150 Motorola smart phone which ran really well right out of the gate. The Android version was pretty great and I imagine it has only gotten better over the last year. In my experience the customer service and r&d people at Juniper are super responsive and eager to receive feedback on any of their products (Particularly Trevor and Mike).
I also demoed a Geode 2 GNSS receiver that was by far the best single frequency sub meter receiver I have used. Simple, quick, rugged, and easy to use. I seriously considered purchasing the Geode 3 when it came out though my intended use changed to where I needed a RTK base and rover system otherwise I would have pulled the trigger on the G3.
I was able to pick up a used Mesa 2 windows tablet to run Micro-survey field genius and Uinta. Oh and when I say ‘used’ Im talking a former tablet used by a trucking delivery service with apparent countless hours and scuffs and dings. Despite all the wear and tear the Mesa 2 still performs flawlessly. With the internal and external batteries charged I can easily use the unit to collect data for 4hrs a day for about a week. Coupled with the survey rod ram mount, the Mesa 2 has been an absolute pleasure to use with everything I run with it. Down the road I will be checking out what is available to...
Read moreI purchased the Juniper Geode GNS3 in part because I was told it would be simple to use, ready to go out of the box with no additional paid subscriptions required and was compatible with my preferred OS and third-party app. I was able to connect my iPhone to the Geode easily with the Geode Connect app but since that only allows you to collect point locations, I then tried to connect to the QField app which is where my problems started. It is possible to connect the Geode directly to QField using a TCP connection however, after many attempts, I contacted Juniper's tech support only to learn that they do not support TCP connections. This vital piece of information was not mentioned anywhere that I could find in their manual or online documentation which for the most part lacked step by step instructions for connecting to the widely used and in this case necessary third-party apps. I am extremely disappointed since I was hoping this would be an easy, lower-cost GNSS...
Read moreIf you have the money to spend and are looking for a high end durable data collector look elsewhere because you will be very disappointed with any of junipers devices, i have used them for years and will be switching due to faulty motherboards and a very non rugged screen design which costs $634.31 to replace if not covered under any additional warranty which unfortunately for me was in the first few weeks of owning it the screen broke, the device will randomly freeze log you out of your Onedrive account and you will not be able to resume your work until you connect to wifi again, sometimes it will delete all your data completely, this is not a one off incident either our business purchased three of the allegro 3 units to start and all three of the units have had the same motherboard issue. Save yourself the wasted time and lost work and purchase a data collector from a...
