clairmont lavender farm is one of the loveliest places i've ever been, even when the lavender isn't blooming. i will readily admit that i am a person who never particularly liked the smell of lavender...when my partner and i first ventured out to clairmont from LA, i didn't know what to expect. but, my goodness! the family that runs this farm is so sweet.

if you are looking to see the flowers, aim to come between may and july, when both varieties of lavender will be blooming. bring a picnic and some wine -- there are plenty of tables to choose from. :) currently, the owners are working with a designer who conceptualized displays for one of the local botanical gardens to re-do some of the beds and add sunflowers, sage, and other lovely plants...so this season truly can't be missed.

many of the products in the gift shop are made on the farm. everything i've tried has been divine, but their lip balm, bar soap, and lavender earl grey tea...

The lavender here bloom in June and July, but it's still a great place to visit even if you miss the flowers. It's just off Alamo Pintado, but secluded enough that you could have a really tranquil picnic on the tables conveniently set out by the fields. If you love places that are off the beaten track, then this is definitely for you.

All the products in the store are made on-site, save for a few small items for which the owner lacks the necessary equipment - those are made at another location in Santa Barbara County, still using the same lavender essential oils produced at the farm.

If you're up in wine country in central coast of California and looking for something additionally to do than wine tasting and shopping in Solvang, go to Clairmont Farms. I'm a lavender fan and I can imagine how beautiful this place can be in the Summer (May-July) when all the Lavender is in full bloom.

This place is a great place to take some quick photos and pick up some Lavender products. Pricing is not cheap, but I believe that the quality is there in the products that they make on-site.

The shop is small, but it has all the essentials. Pick up the Body Butter and the Essential Oil, won't regret it! Credit card...
