I've been a customer of EliteFTS since before 2011. I've always had a lot of respect for the group based on what I've read on their site and the impression I get from Mr. Tate. However, their customer service has recently taken a dive and it looks like I'm not the only one noticing.
I placed an order 11/19/13 for a gift to my brother. On 11/25/13 I received an e-mail from the warehouse/shipping manager stating the items I purchased were backordered and they wouldn't be in for 3 weeks. I chose to wait and asked why the item showed in-stock on their site and I was being notified of the issue 6 days later. She stated the delay was their fault and they didn't "realize" they had back orders. I thanked her for the explanation and began waiting. I confirmed on 12/10/13 that the item still showed in-stock online. On 12/12/13 I received a notice from a different CSR that my order was canceled, without explanation. They also messed up the shipping address, so even if it had been sent, it would have been delivered to the wrong address. Anything drop shipped (just about everything) took 6 weeks. 2 weeks in to my wait, I closed on a house and moved. I called to ask if I could change the shipping address. I was flat out told no. That I would have to contact the shipping company. I received zero notifications on shipments. After 4 weeks, I submitted an electronic inquiry. The response only mentioned a 6-8 week lead time for plates (up from 4-6 when I ordered). I had to drive an hour away to pick up my power rack, because UPS wouldn't change the address on frieght. I had to track the truck down to intercept my barbell. The plates cost an extra $65 to change the delivery address, and only half of the order showed up. Read moreI’ve used some of their equipment in the past which is obviously 5 star. This review is more a critique of their customer service. I ordered a Swiss bar, and was sent an SS Yoke two weeks later.
Full disclosure I contemplated keeping the SS Yoke as it’s about $135 more than what I bought. I decided to do the right thing and notified customer service of the error. I also asked if I could keep AND PAY for the SS Yoke since I eventually wanted it anyway. I was told no and that they would arrange with UPS for a pickup of the wrong bar, and that they would send out the Swiss bar ASAP.
3 days later UPS knocks on the door saying they were here to pick up the bar, now 3 days after that I don’t have the bar I ordered almost 3 weeks ago and there is also no way to track the status of my order.
