First of all, I'd like to say everyone's experience at a park is, of course, different. And 3 stars in my mind is neither excellent nor horrible, just right in the area of "good." We came to H & G for four nights to pass through on our way further South. It is a small, laid back park with about a dozen back-in sites and a couple pull-thru sites. Full hookup with 50 amp. A trash can at each site for campers' use. Off the highway so road noise it not an issue. (Follow your GPS and make sure you turn off on Sample Road across from the cemetery - not too far and down on the right from there.) That is everything the park has to offer, which we did not expect, but it worked out fine for us. The owner is a wonderful, caring individual that will answer his phone for any question you may have. And the area does have things to do if you decide you want to see the sites - The Hurley House Cafe is not too far with good hometown cooking, Ms. Lena's Pie Shop is not far but call and order ahead so she can bake you an amazing pie, Little Rock is about a half-hour away to visit The Big Dam Bridge or the River Market (and so much more), and about an hour-and-a-half away is Hot Springs to visit the park, shop, and walk through Spa Row for an amazing step...
Read moreGary’s exceptional hospitality makes this stop our favorite in the USA. We traveled from North Carolina in our small RV to bury my Father in his home state next to Momma. I called ahead to every camp spot within 50-75 miles and my Uncle called even more. No one had a spot for us. When Gary told me the same I asked if he might know of anywhere else and I told him why we were coming to Arkansas. Well he immediately told me to come on to H&G, that he’d make space for us. He told me we wouldn’t have hookups but we could camp on the grass. I said that would be fine as I was very grateful. When we arrived here he and another camper split a water source with us and they found an extension cord to provide us with electricity. It was a wonderful stay, even the dog was living her best life romping though the wildflowers! If your there in the summer months You’ve got to be sure to take a walk around the farm after dark. The smell of honeysuckle and the thousand of fireflies sparkling are an incredible experience. Thank you Gary for your gracious hospitality, it...
Read moreDuring pandemic, we decided that we could do a round-trip from California to Maryland and stay in our own bubble: the pickup and the RV. We only had to leave for gas and to accept delivered food. We selected H & G on the drive to Maryland only because it was the closest RV park at the end of a day's driving.
It was just as advertised. What wasn't part of the ad was the welcome and the roadside assistance we received from Gary. We arrived around 4:00 pm Friday and were really in need of finding an open tire shop before we left for the next day's drive. Earlier, I had blown one tire and the second was none too good. Rob got on his phone and called a few places, finally finding one in a nearby town that stocked trailer tires.
With a reservation at the store for 10:00 am, we got to sleep in (So far every day had started at 5:00 AM). His extra effort relieved a lot of stress that afternoon, so when we planned our return trip we made a point of staying at H & G again. It was...
