The worse experience I and my family have ever had playing golf. We rented clubs, carts and paid for 18 holes to play for the day. We were letting people play through, so we would not hold anyone up. We let at least two groups through. Our group are not professionals we had a mix of age in our group, teenager, middle age , and elderly. We paid just like everyone else did. Mike Lippiat (Recreational Program Manager) approached us trying to swing his wait introducing himself as a the Recreational Program Manager trying to show off in front of his pals that was playing golf behind us. Note: They had not even caught up to us for the group to let them play through. Mike Lippiat told us that we needed to speed up and let people play ahead of us. We rented clubs, carts and paid for 18 holes to play for the day. We paid just like everyone else did to play at this public golf course. We were out of state visitors for him to represent the Los Alamos community and the public golf course. He has Definitely failed at being a public or a representative for the community. I would think a program manager would be managing the golf course and his grunts. Not playing while he is on company time. It is ashamed that he lost close to $200 dollars if not more for his arrogance and selfishness. If anything he could have done was approach us and ask if we need help or asked if we could wait for them to catch up to play through. Our family will not return back to the Los Alamos Golf Course. I will never recommend this golf course to...
Read moreThe Los Alamos golf course is a great place for beginners to play golf. I'm a pretty terrible golfer, so things that some people consider great features, like water hazards or holes that require very accurate shots, are not things that I find appealing. LAGC doesn't have anything too crazy, and I find the course challenging enough to be fun without being overwhelming. The fairways are always well maintained, and while the greens aren't always perfect (I'm looking at you, #4) they're generally pretty consistent. The course is rarely very crowded and it's pretty rare to get stuck behind someone who 7 putts and takes a minute between each try like he's playing for a spot on the PGA tour. (You know who you are and I hope you read this). Everyone who works there is super friendly and helpful, the clubhouse restaurant is very good for a golf course, rates aren't terribly expensive, and the driving range and practice green are pretty nice. I play often, so if you're a terrible golfer...
Read moreI played this course first week of June 2023. The greens are in nice shape and Fairways were pretty good but the grass was a little clumpy around the greens and around the tee boxes. Perhaps they will fill in as summer progresses. The back nine plays a lot more difficult than the front nine. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have a large eating area in the clubhouse. The burgers there are amazing and they have an incredible selection of meats including bison ostrich kangaroo lamb alligator Etc. Overall a very good experience golfing and...
