We came by for the pumpkin patch they were hosting and while it was a bit small, it was still definitely unique and fun filled with the activities they had. It wasn’t too busy, we came on a Sunday evening, and there was plenty of parking.
Upon arrival, you have to purchase a wrist band inside the gift shop/admissions shop, which gives you access to the safari ride and petting zoo. They had lots of cute plushies and a live scorpion and axolotl inside the shop, and it was really cool to see those in real life. They also offered animal feed for $10 for a huge cup. We were then given a time to wait in line for the tour cart to come around.
The safari ride lasted about 30 minutes, with the tour guide driving to the other edge of the field and allowing us to feed and pet the wildlife, ranging from zebras, an ostrich, water buffalo, a camel, longhorns, and emus. They were all very friendly animals, and we were able to feed and pet them safely from the comfort of the cart. They tour guide allowed us plenty of time to hang out with them and was super friendly and informative about each animal.
We managed to save some feed for the petting zoo, where we were greeted with baby goats, pot belly pigs, and hens. They devoured the feed as well and they were very well trained and tame, they seemed happy to be there and comfortable with visitors.
There was also a “gold rush” water mill, where we purchased a bag of sand from the gift shop for $30, and we were able to sift our sand in the water mill to try to get lucky and find some silver or gold. We didn’t, but we walked away with a huge bag of cool stones.
Although seasonal, I will mention the hay maze, photo ops, and corn pit were super fun. We took so many pictures and my son loved going back and forth in the maze and he couldve stayed forever in the corn pit if I let him. My son had a great time and was happy to also get a small pumpkin for purchase for a good price. They had a few vendors and a food truck for snacks as well. Everyone working was super sweet and welcoming and it definitely made our experience so much better....
Read moreWe recently visited the newly opened Fragile Planet Wildlife Park in Los Fresnos, Texas, and it was an absolutely amazing experience for our family. Having visited the San Antonio Wildlife Ranch multiple times, we were familiar with the drive-through safari concept, but Fragile Planet offered something entirely different and even more special.
Unlike the expansive San Antonio Wildlife Ranch, Fragile Planet Wildlife Park provides a much more up-close and personal experience. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly our safari tour guide, Jorge. His masterful storytelling, humor, and wealth of information about the individual animals and conservation efforts made the safari ride a one-of-a-kind adventure. Jorge's passion for wildlife and conservation was evident, and it truly enhanced our experience.
For just $15 per person, you get access to both the safari ride and the petting zoo – both of which were fantastic. The feed, priced at $10 for a large cup and $5 for refills, was well worth it, especially compared to the prices at bigger establishments where interactions are far more limited.
The gift shop was another delightful surprise. While it offered a range of items similar to those you'd find at a local zoo, it also featured a tank with real axolotls, which thrilled our daughter to no end.
We are so glad we decided to make the trip out to Fragile Planet Wildlife Park. It was a memorable experience for the whole family, and we can't...
Read moreI’m giving it 4 stars despite loving the safari. Let me explain why. I arrived at 12:30pm, I was notified that safaris happen 1 time per hour and I had to wait till 1. Wish that was on the website. But No problem, 30 minutes we spend at the petting zone. Goats are super cute. Feed is $10 but it’s a lot so it’s worth it.
Fastforward to 1, the tractor had to be serviced so our safari was pushed to 2. They were offering a visit to the amphibian center while you waited but in groups of 6. Please keep in mind that yes there’s shade but with Texas heat and humidity being outside can sometimes be unbearable. I also feel there should be a backup tractor for situations like this. Because imagine if it failed or had mechanical problems? Anyhow, we got lucky cause around 1:20ish we were able to get onto the safari.
This place is starting so there’s not that many species but for the price I think it’s amazing cause it gives you a personal experience with animals. The whole ride lasted between 25-30 mts. Our guide was a female, and she was very nice and knowledgeable of the animals.
I’m excited to see the future of this place and where it’s going. I truly wish the best for this little gem, because here in the RGV there’s no other place that is doing what they offer! This is why I’m giving this review, critique sometimes helps businesses, so please don’t get discouraged! But keep this in mind because with kids or babies, its hard...
