We found this place on air bnb. It seemed like a great spot for us 4 girls to meet up and enjoy a long weekend together. The add stated it was a luxury cabin surrounded by woods and trails. The four of us are avid hikers, backpackers, and campers. We work hard and thought this seems like a perfect place to treat ourselves, relax and get out in the woods.||Though we did make the best of our time together, the listing was a complete and total fabrication of what we really encountered and the owner should really be more upfront about the location and the offerings. I came away from this feeling pretty jaded and bamboozled.||||The 40 minute drive from the highway up to to the place is a one lane winding road. The landscape is severely depressed, broken down hovels, trash, junkyards, and dogs locked in outdoor cages. ||||The nearest store is 45 minutes away. Unless you go to a gas station or conveniently buy from the owners store. Here, you will find overpriced, old and stale Dollar store food. There was an all you can eat buffet complete with boiled hot dogs, canned chili, and canned vegetables for $15. The next day we encountered the same buffet featuring the leftovers from the previous evening for only $10.||||Thirdly, the firewood is $20 for 7 quartered pieces of wood OR $30 for 14 pieces of quartered pieces of wood. They picked out this wood for us and we watched as they bypassed the nice larger pieces, but they threw in 1 extra pice and three 6” Pieces of treated 4x4’s. We passed on paying for “kindling” and opted to collect that from the woods near the cabin.||||The “trails” are not hiking trails. They are strictly for ATV and super steep in many parts. The owner gave us a map and told us which trail to follow (it’s the only trail) and then laughed at us as we came back asking us how far we made it on the trail. ||||The woods were pretty, but it was hard not to find an empty can of natty light every where you stepped and the backdrop of sound Was that of ATV’s and gunshots both day and night.||||And now the super duper small cabin. This One bedroom luxury cabin supposedly fit six people. The bedroom was a loft, not a bedroom. There was a pullout couch with a broke down mattress where you can only feel the bars. My back still hurts. No linens provided. There was a pullout chair that was very much like the couch and the sixth sleeping spot was a recliner. ||||Most of the outlets did not work. The Amenities were lacking. I’m still wondering how the word luxury was used to describe this place. Maybe because there was a hot tub shoved on the back porch? The kicker was the sign on the living room wall “your housekeeper works hard to clean, please leave a tip.”||||In the end, we were not treated as guests, but only as...
Read moreOur family friends have been staying here for years and my husband and I finally were able to make the trip from Chicago this past 4th of July weekend to enjoy a relaxing getaway.
It was everything they said it would be: A long winding road to the top of the mountain to see stunning views, great music and fireworks and amenities which were way more than I would have expected for rustic lodging!
The Radnor Hollow Lodge slept all of us with comfy, clean beds and bathrooms and plenty of places to play games, watch TV and relax. It was super warm while we were there but it was no match for the AC which worked great.
Some of our party stayed in The Mountaineer Yurt and that was also awesome. A beautiful open room closer to the restaurant and check-in with tall ceilings, a gorgeous bar and kitchen huge bed, massive AC unit and cozy decor. Great hang out spot.
Joe and his staff were kind and helpful and every single thing that came out of their kitchen was delicious. (order the pizza)
Can’t wait to go back for more ATVing and exploring! 10/10 highly recommend this hidden gem. Thank you, Joe!! -Chicago...
Read moreI can not say enough good things about Rustic Ravines. We absolutely loved it!! My husband and I always talked about doing a primitive camp and riding weekend. We made arrangements with the owner Joe Boffo for exactly that, unfortunately we picked the wrong weekend. It was cold and rained non stop our first day there. Joe went out of his way to make sure we had an awesome experience. He allowed us to set up camp under their gazebo which saved our weekend. We were out of the rain and off the cold wet ground. The property and cabins were beautiful and the hospitality was top notch!! We enjoyed the all you can eat buffet and the live entertainment on Saturday evening was very enjoyable. We paid for the tour guides and it was a wise choice. The trails are outlaw trails so they are not marked and no maps available. The trail guides were knowledgeable and gave us an awesome and fun riding experience . I highly recommend Rustic Ravines to anyone that's into side by side riding or just looking for a get away. Thank you Joe Boffo for a wonderful weekend. We will definitely...
