We wanted to go for a U-Pick experience for peach picking. Having found Jaemor Farms. The location was very accessible off of a major highway north of Atlanta, a very easy drive
When entering, there is plenty of parking in the parking area, although much of it was on gravel or lawn. If you want to go to the farmers market, park up towards the top, but if you want to do picking, you want to stay over to the right side as you're coming in. Follow the science to where it says tickets
There is a fee to just enter the Orchard, but on top of that, there is a fee for each bag of peaches. The best deal is the two for bags. Everything is well organized. From the ticket booth, you walk out to a tractor ride to the fields. When we went, you could pick vegetables, blackberries, flowers, or peaches. Each type had its own place to stop. At each stop, they explained what to pick, where to pick, and how to pick.
Having not planned well, it was the middle of the day, probably the hottest time to go. If I were to do it again, I would go early in the morning and avoid the heat. Do you want to bring some bottled water with you or purchase something at the site where they sell Refreshments in the field. Keeping hydrated is important.
As you can see from the pictures of the trees are completely filled with peaches. Making it easy to fill your half-peck bags. Wandering around between the peach trees trying to pick the most beautiful peaches was an adventure and a fun family outdoor time.
While the farm is not pet friendly other than service animals, it is very family friendly and saw many families out there for the day to enjoy the farm.
When you are ready to leave with full bags of peaches, the tractor ride back to where you started, arrived very quickly since there were multiple tractors operating at the same time. You don't have to wait long while they passengers are unloading, and you are loading to run back to the entrance
Overall everyone we met there at the farm was very friendly and helpful. There were hundreds of people there at the market, so they see a lot of traffic throughout the day. If you don't feel like entering the farm to pick yourself, you can buy them pre-picked and sorted in the farmer's market. In fact it might be to simply purchase them pre-picked, although not is fun.
The farmers market also features baked goods as well as an ice cream shop to cool down in after the hot day in the Sun.
If you're looking for a fun afternoon with the family to spend some time outdoors and picking your own produce and peaches, this is nearby and readily accessible and a good...
Read moreThis place is absolutely darling, the prices are pretty good and the Gobbler sandwich and strawberry cake was delicious. The reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because most of the other food we purchased was not great. Not even good. I was so excited to find a farm that was making it's own hand pies. These were the worst hand\fried pies I've ever had. I was so confident in them so I bought 7 to bring home but when I took the first bite in the apple one, I was immediately disappointed. There was not a single redeeming flavor. They said the apple and peach pies were "fresh" but all of the fillings were just canned pie fillings. The dough used was the worst part. It wasn't sweet or savory. It was bland, flavorless flour. Not even the very small amount of glaze on the outside helped (there could have been more). You know it's bad when you give the other half of the blueberry one to your chickens and they didn't want anything to do with it (they eat just about anything). The raspberry was probably the worst offender. The filling smelled good but then it's flavor was non existent. And it was just goo? There wasn't a single seed present, just a clear dark pink goo you'd expect to see on the movie set of "The Blob". Even using a raspberry jam would have been better then whatever the heck they're using. These were an immense disappointment. The other thing we tried was the apple bread. It's fine, I guess. There really needs to be apple throughout because that was the best part but you don't get many. It would have kept the interior more moist too. What bothered me about this bread is that they use the same pans to bake the sweet breads as they do the jalapeno bread. How do I know this? Because the bottom 1/3rd of the entire apple loaf was a little spicy and tasted of jalapeno and cheddar. Seems like a silly thing to mess up. This makes me think they don't clean the pans often. The whole place seems to be run by teens in places where maybe there should be a more experienced hand making sure things are being made properly. If they ARE being made to standard, then maybe the standards should be a little higher. Whoever is doing the lemonade out front, your drinks are delicious, keep doing what you're doing. That watermelon...
Read moreEven though I had driven past Jaemor Farm Market many times, I had never taken the opportunity to stop in—until today. On the way back from a rejuvenating hike at Blackrock in North Carolina, one of the hiking group members suggested we stop at the market to pick up some fresh apples. It seemed like the perfect way to end an already amazing day outdoors. By the time we arrived, the store was on the verge of closing, and we barely made it inside. Despite the late hour, the market had a warm, welcoming vibe, and the shelves were still brimming with fresh produce. The atmosphere felt rustic and authentic, a true testament to the farm-to-market experience. We were immediately drawn to the selection of apples, with their vibrant colors and plump shapes promising a burst of flavor.
After a bit of browsing and sampling, each one of us couldn’t resist buying a box of their delicious apples. At $45 per box plus tax, it may have seemed a bit steep at first, but considering the quality and freshness of the apples, it felt like a worthwhile investment. These weren't your typical grocery store apples; these were hand-picked, bursting with flavor, and locally grown, which added to the charm of the purchase. As we packed our boxes into the car, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and satisfaction from our last-minute stop. It felt like a lucky stroke of fate, catching the market just before it closed and walking away with such a fresh and bountiful harvest. For many of us, this spontaneous stop at Jaemor Farm Market became a highlight of the trip, a sweet conclusion to our...
