My friend and I had a girl day cation at Ottine Mineral Springs. Parking was great and they have a golf cart that will pick you up so you don't have to walk. You are dropped off at the entrance. Staff was very welcoming, After signing in a staff member hands you a towel and gives a short tour of the amenities. They provide lockers for your things. They have showers, changing rooms etc.. We changed and headed to find a place to put our towels down. There are plenty of lounge chairs and hammock areas. Some are shady and others places other locations to sun bath. . We chose the hammock area. There are fans and misters as well under the cabaĂąas. We headed to the first soaking pool with a rock bottom. Probably my favorite one. The water is warm. It has water falls and seating all the way the pool. From there we headed to another pool that had floats to float around. The place is super relaxing. They also have a very hot pool with a cold plunge pool next to it. The largest pool does have chlorine in it but it's really nice with lounging chairs and umbrellas in the water. Around 11 we started to get hungry. The kitchen serves hummus, sandwiches, pizzas fancy churrete boards. They also have mixed drinks beer and wine. Once you order you are handed a buzzer. It would really cool if they had pool side service. However it was not an option. Pizza was about $18 for a small one. We had scheduled a massage. So we got invited to the private soaking area. They have two smaller soaking pools, a sauna and cold plunge pool. A smaller area with 4 hammocks. That area could use the fan and misters like they have in the main area. We spent several hours in that area just because it was not crowded. Both my friend and I signed up for an hour deep tissue massage. Price point is higher than any other massage I have had. Once I got into the room the therapist told me that a hour was not long enough to massage my entire body. I have always had hour massage and had my entire body done. I thought it was strange but it's kinda awkward to negotiate this technicality once you have already signed up. On a scale of 1 to 10 I believe my experience was about a 4-5. It was not really relaxing. I didn't leave feeling like relaxed. In fact today I need a massage for my massage. Normally after a massage I just want to take a nap because your body just feels amazing. My friends told me she was told the same thing in her session (1 hour is not long enough for an entire body massage) her therapist didn't massage her lower half at all. $160 minus tip for 60 minutes. We will be back to Ottine Mineral Springs however we will skip on the...
Read moreThis rating says to share details of my experience at this place. I guess I will share my experience with the management team since I purchased a pass and didnât get to experience anything. I think it was the owner; I just know after speaking for some time with one worker, I was passed onto this person and wasnât properly introduced.
I purchased a day pass which is the only option to choose. In my opinion, I feel to make it more affordable for people who just want to experience the spa experience without all the food and mingling, you can do an hr -2 hrs for $25 or such, but just my opinion.
I was more so disappointed because I live in Northwest Austin and had an Airbnb in Flatonia. I drove all the way to Flatonia realizing that their location was a little bit farther than expected and I was going to get to Ottonine Springs with only 30 minutes to enjoy which is not worth a 40 minute drive from Flatonia. I understand- poor planning on my part, but their 24 hr hour policy needs to be reconsidered. Sometimes you donât know whatâs going to happen within those 24 hrs and itâs impossible to know a whole day before. For me, I have ADHD and poor planning and time management is already a huge struggle for me. I mentioned that to whoever i was speaking with, but Ofcourse it didnât make a difference. They just kept repeating themselves and Iâm sure they were thinking I donât get a pass for poor planning, but this is how my brain works every day.
Either way, their demeanor on the phone struck me as not very considerate of how I felt with the fact that I lost $70 to celebrate my birthday, wasnât offered a better solution other than to choose another date and spend another $70! No refunds or exchanges for another day when I looked up a date in advance and there was availability. They said I could possibly be taking up someone elseâs spot and they functioned like an airport.
I asked if I could just go swim for an hour as I asked for an extension at my checkout for my Airbnb and they were like sorry there are no cancellations right now. I get it; theyâre sticking to their policies, but geeze offer something to your customers for giving you business. I didnât even get to experience anything. That is all. Iâm done with my venting session. Yea, I cried getting off the phone because I donât get a lot of time off from work and I had a horrible year; this was my getaway, so not sure I would recommend this place if this is how they like to handle their...
Read moreTo start off, this review is for 2 separate visits. My husband and I first visited on 2 weeks ago. It was a Tuesday and it was a wonderful day! That day would have gotten 5 stars. It was so quiet and relaxing. The pizza was amazing! We were shown around and told about the different pools and the temps on our arrival. Everyone was so nice! We knew right away that we would come back and so excited to see the activities that were due to come in the future. We are so happy that someone is utilizing the springs in a healthy, relaxing way! We need it in this world filled with stress..
Well then came yesterday(a Sunday). I booked a pass for my daughter and myself to celebrate her 40th birthday. I was asked upon booking if I was celebrating an occasion. I did note that it was my daughterâs birthday but no one made any reference to it. We were told at checkin that they were at capacity and did we need a guide. I told them yes since my daughter had not been there before. The lady was irritated and only stood at the entrance and pointed out the restrooms and cafe. She was more concerned with helping with checkin. Well I let that go. The day was not peaceful. We felt like we were at a calmed down version of spring break. So many were drinking more than they should and it was so loud. Not to mention, the vaping that was going on (We were warned of no vaping upon entering).
Then toward the end of the day, I went to the cafe and ordered a Coke because Coke is on the menu. The very nice girl tells me that none of the items are sold even though they are on the menu because the owner says they are not healthy and the place is supposed to be a âhealthy retreatâ. I then asked why is there so much alcohol served if this is a âhealthy retreatâ? A question that couldnât be answered. All I wanted was a coke and couldnât get it while the 2 young girls beside me were getting 2 margaritas and 3 modelos with no problem. Very contradictory for a âhealthy retreatâ.
As the day got later, is when we were able to relax and enjoy the pools because the atmosphere changed as it got quiet. I firmly believe they were over capacity.
We will go back and give it another try but on a weekday again. Never on another weekend. If it wasnât for my first visit being 5 stars, this visit would have definitely been a 2...
