Purgatory Falls — Local services in Lyndeborough

We walked purgatory brook trail today. It was beautiful. There were mushrooms growing among roots of the surrounding trees and the train was webbed with the roots, allotting forming stairs. There were a lot of downed birch trees. I wonder what is going on with them. They weren’t cut, looked like a natural occurrence. We did not see the falls today and the brook was mostly dry. This is a nice piney forest with some elevation to get to and from the falls from the northeast car park. there is parking for 2 cars there. The area is not very popular as we only ran in to 1 person on a weekend. The waterfall was nice, nothing extraordinary. We only did the middle and upper falls. the walk would be 1-2...

This Trail is CLOSED. No way to get there. No parking on Purgatory Rd . There is an official yellow sign at end of Purgatory Falls Rd where it turns to dirt, which says “YOUR GPS IS WRONG. Not a THRU ROAD.” Why doesn’t the website say it’s closed??...
