Don't fly Copa
I am a customer recently flew with Copa Airlines. And i have to the take time to send this message, I am appalled of disrespect and lack of professionalism display today by gate agent at Panama City Tocumen airport (Mondalia, Lindali ) might be spelled differently she refused to show her badge and when request to speak with station manager for Copa Airlines she claims to be said manager. Me,my wife and 1 year old son are connecting flights from KIN to PANAMA CITY to SFO airport. On Flight CM 417 a 737 aircraft gate 22 borading time 6:00pm as me and my family proceed to board the air craft we were stopped by the gate agent which name was stated above to have our carry on luggage be taken and tag to be a checked bag after being cleared coming through from SFO on our arriving flight, and leaving KIN on our return. This is just a short connection. I explained I cannot check this bag because it has all the baby's needs such as bottle, milk, diarpers. She then demanded for me to either take everything out or I have to just have it tagged. I have work at SFO airport for 3 years as gate lead, jet bridge operator , and load control , arrives lead, and disbatch/fueller. worked with WOW AIR, FIJI, Luthansa, WestJet, Turkish Airlines, and Meniezs Fuel, I never seen such unprofessionalism from a gate crew member ever. The proper channels to go through would be to speak with flight crew first or receive information from them that there is no carry-on room since it fit in all size display for carry-on. I explained this to her after she told me to remove my items from the bag or have it check. Then she disagree with me refusely, I requested to speak with their station manager, she hid her badge and claim to be station manager as I try to get a glimpse of the badge. The flight crew seem to notice what was going on and spoken with the agent and Inform them that they did have room and the bags were fine. My wife who felt wrongfully profiled express to the gate agent and gate security that the way that they were operating was unfair and unjust then the same gate agent began to use loud disrespectful language to my wife as she held my 1 year son saying she better go now and mumbled "B*tch".Where even the flight crew had to applogise for their actions. I have worked under the vise of many station and general managers and never had I seen one show such an unprofessional and disrespectful demeanor to a customer. Maybe because we chose to fly a different class than normal. There are many withnesses among flight crew and passenger due to this embarrassing display of disrespect, we will never fly Copa Airlines and will inform all of our associates and business partners of our experience at Panama City with your partner airlines to save them the...
Read moreWe have been using this airport for the last few years and have seen it grow up a little and now have 9 gates. There are also shops before and after security. It serves Panama City, Panama City Beach, and Bay County, sitting about 18 mi northwest of downtown Panama City and roughly 15–16 mi from the beaches, with a convenient 20–30‑minute drive .
ECP offers daily nonstop service via four major U.S. airlines: American, Delta, Southwest, and United . Read moreHere’s your warning to anyone flying American out of this airport, particularly if there’s a medical emergency. I was scheduled to fly American Airlines (AA) home from this airport to DC, landing at midnight last night. Then I found out at 11:30am yesterday that our pediatrician was sending our 6yrold daughter to the ER for appendicitis. I immediately went online and found the 12:42pm AA flight that would get me home by 6pm, but it would not let me book online (too soon I guess). When I tried to change my flight in the app, it didn’t offer the other flight because it was to DCA instead of IAD. I called AA on my way to the airport. They said to go straight to the gate to get on the flight standby. They said the gate agent would be able to put me on standby for both flights and they had plenty of space. I got to gate 7 before they started boarding the flight, but Rachel and Jessica refused to put me on the flight because it was 32min before departure rather than 42min. There were empty seats, I had a ticket for later, I’d been through security (TSA Pre), I had no checked bags, and by this point I was crying, but they would not let me on the flight. And they did not offer any alternatives to help me get there before midnight. It was crushing. Eventually I was able to cancel my AA flight and book one with Delta Air Lines for $500 that got me in by 9pm. But no thanks to AA. I was so disappointed that their employees did not show a little more humanity. And after the flight took off, I heard the crew working that gate talking about how they just follow policy and procedures so they won’t ever get in trouble. That’s why they were also making people check carryon bags that those same folks had carried onto countless flights. We’ve all encountered those agents who use their power to enforce policies in a draconian way, but I was unlucky enough to encounter them when my daughter’s life was in danger, so their inflexibility and lack of creativity was especially cruel. I’ve looked it up, and there is no TSA requirement that I get on the flight 42min ahead. They just were not willing to do anything to try to help me. Otherwise, the airport...
