UPS CACH — Local services in Lyons Township

I realize it’s the holidays, I get that. I really do. But after tracking a package on UPS’s truly world class package tracking system from California to Virginia, I’m more than a little disappointed. My package traveled over 2000 miles from the Los Angles rapidly in 46 hours (via ground service) to spend the next 57 hours sitting at the Hodgkins Illinois UPS facility. As it’s a Christmas present I was following it’s progress anxiously. Today 12/18/19 I visited the local UPS store to see why and was told basically verbatim what the tracking paper said, that I had carried in there store with me. They did however give me a 800 telephone number for UPS service. Upon calling that number I was told it was “in route” and had just missed being scanned. I replied saying “I don’t believe you” as I’ve never had a package miss a arrival or departure scan and asked to speak to a supervisor. She politely said it was a 20 minute wait, which I replied, I’ll wait. About 25 minutes later a supervisor came on and told me that the package was indeed in route and that the ups website hadn’t been updated yet. I asked her to send me a screenshot, but got an email with a tracking link instead. That link showed the package still in Hodgkins Illinois at noon today. At a little after 3pm it finally got a departure scan and is hopefully on its way to me. My frustration isn’t so much with the delay as with UPS customer service saying something to try to pacify (me) the customer and go on to the next caller. When did it become “good business” to avoid telling the truth? Again I realize it’s the holiday season, but just say that it’s at the facility (not lost) and we’ll be processing and shipping it soon because of sheer volume vs the fairy tale I was told not once, but 3 times today by UPS employees. On 11-8-18, I found out that pkgs were shipped from Hodgkins to Bedford Park and Bedford Park is responsible for aggravation and stress.

Expected 2 packages : portable washer and dryer Driver arrived @10 AM with washer and said he had to deliver some big items and would be back with other pkg. I got the impression that the bigger pkgs were blocking the dryer (which was a bit smaller than the washer) and that the driver would be back soon with the dryer. Waiting for a second delivery that could have been made the same time as the first, was no way to spend a nice day. I tried calling CACH and that number referred me to the general UPS number. It is no easy feat getting to a real person. It is pretty frustrating when you finally do. They can't help you and are reluctant to try to connect you with someone who might be If you are persistent enough, they will take your info and tell you someone will call you. It is over a week - - still no call. I still would like to know why 2 pkgs on the same truck on the same day could not be delivered at the same time

Driver finally showed up with the dryer after 6 PM. Who would have thought there was 8 hours worth of pkgs bigger than my dryer on that truck?? Driver didn't seem to care that it took so long. I got the impression he does this regularly. HE seemed to get angry when I told him he ruined my day. He pretty much dropped the pkg on the ground and took off I was lucky that I didn't have to drag the pkg too far to get it in the house. He did save me money on the tip I planned to give him originally, but I would have preferred to get both pkgs earlier and enjoyed my day. If I had thought of it sooner, I would have offered the tip sooner to get both pkgs at same time, but I just didn't think of it soon enough to...

Looks like a nightmare ! Why ? Out of 3 packages 2 had to be routed via Hodgkins, IL and guess what...never made it further west. 1 package returned after 7+ weeks and the other now 8 weeks with last scan Hodgkins, IL. The only shipment that reached Oregon in 4 days was the one that did not get to Hodgkins, IL. What is going on at this location ? Anybody working there or only pile of packages waiting for return to sender ? Lesson learnt.... from Oregon to the East coast if I have to ship myself I will from now on use FedEx Ground as I have not seen a depot with such terrible service :( examples status 20FEB2016
