Berry Vines — Local services in Machias

I like the store and the staff is helpful, however, I asked for three pieces of tissue paper for the items I bought, plus I was given 1 plastic bag and 1 small brown paper bag. When I returned home, I saw a charge for gift wrapping of $1.50. I have spent over $200 in the store this season and am trying to support local businesses. Looking back at a prior receipt, they had also charged me for just tissue paper, well, plus 1 plastic bag. I think the staff is told to do this. It leaves me with a bad feeling and it is underhanded. If they had actually gift wrapped and let me know verbally about the charge, I wouldn't be...

Just love this place. We're new to town and used to many more options for shopping, but I barely notice because of the great selection at Berry Vines. It is a real pot pourri--flowers, fun socks, lovely chocolates, great cards, stylish jewelry, locally made crafts and foods, holiday decorations, consignment goods of all kinds, pottery, local wine, Stonewall Kitchen foods, etc. The staff is always friendly, and I feel confident sending people from away there for their shopping. I love this place. There's a lot of unique things here. My only issue is the wax melts. I like to go in and purchase the wax melts here and there because they smell so good.
